    Legal Weapons and Overlanding

A gun without bullets in it is useless. They don't make good clubs or baseball bats either. Jus' saying.

    Legal Weapons and Overlanding

That will certainly help prepare you for whatever Zombie Apocalypse you manage to find. :-)

    Overlanding with older vehicles

OK, what is your intended time frame? Will it be after the pandemic is over?

    Overlanding with older vehicles

Yes, you are officially an old fart.

    Overlanding with older vehicles

I'm jealous of your mini me Bronco. Really good looking truck.

    Has overlanding become elitist ?

Go peruse expedition portal/overland journal you'll find the very definition of elite-ism. They only feature the expensive gadgets their sponsors sell and their vehicles featured are over-the-top unaffordables. Their writing has a specific style that smacks of an English major editor with a...

US Comms - An Introduction to your Communication Options

Prerunner, thanks for all the info. I like all that I have heard here and I will start reading and learning what I need to implement APRS, GMRS and my CB unless it turns out to be a dud. Hell, I may even get two cans and a long string to carry along on my adventures... if'n this damn virus...

How has the Covid-19 virus affected your adventures?

I don't have any secrets that'll help. This is a pandemic that can literally wipe humans off the planet. All I can recommend is to take care of your immune system, practice thorough hygiene, avoid people and all those things they keep blabbering about on the news channels. (They always have to...

    Overlanding with older vehicles

I have a '88 Bronco, but even if you were to let Big G and I come along I wouldn't go. I don't want to die from a pandemic... falling off a mountain side or a serious rollover has at least a little more respect than deliberately tempting fate. :mask::laughing:

How has the Covid-19 virus affected your adventures?

Since I'm 73 with several other ailments I'm simply staying home until the worst is over. I'd love to go somewhere but if I were to catch that bug I would undoubtedly die from it and I ain't ready to do that.

Overland Buy Sell And Trade Electronics Section

I have seen tpms systems where the wheel sensors can use IOS/Android device to present the readings. So, that makes me wonder if blue tooth software packages for WIN10 laptops and other devices, with or without a dongle, are available for those of us who don't use IOS or Android devices. Any...

    Fly Fishing

My parents moved to Utah when I was 11 and that was the start of my fly and lake fishing addiction. If you are truly hooked, be careful as there's no cure for it. Nice little german brown you caught there. Whereabouts were you?

US Comms - An Introduction to your Communication Options

Prerunner1982: Could you elaborate on APRS? I'm interested, but I don't think my current radio has integrated APRS. Is it hardware that can be added or is it software? I am installing a TYT TH-9000D radio and I have a dedicated WIN10 Notebook that I use for navigation and a number of other...

    Anyone Name Their Overwatering Rig?

Nice boat for ocean and coastal cruising. I used to have large sailboats when I lived in San Francisco. We moved to Florida where I wound up with a 27ft center console sport fisher. I just got tired of dumping small fortunes into a hole in the water. So now I'm a triple sport dude: Overlanding...

Something for Jeepers to drool over

It actually looks quite useful and probably catches a lot of mud. It looks efficient too in that dried mud could be cleaned off simply by flexing it.

    Ham radio????

The cap on my Bronco is fiberglass, so I installed an overhang over the back window (like all SUVs have these days) then I covered it and a large part of the end of the cap - 18"x 64" - with a steel ground plane and painted it to match the truck. Three antennas - CB, Ham (6ft whips) and AM/FM -...

    Ham radio????

That's because Jeepers desperately don't want to know that other vehicles might be equal to or better than a Jeep. My Bronco is good at rescuing and towing stuck jeeps. :sunglasses: BTW, do you know how to tune antennas? I'm going to need some advice/help when I get ready to do that. Won't be...

Wow, now that's very original redneck.

    Ham radio????

Cool. I have to get busy on that myself, but right now I have too many other things to do. There's not a lot of interesting Overlanding around here. I have gotten used to the idea of driving a day or so to get to someplace interesting... north of here. Besides, I like to fly fish for fresh water...

    Ham radio????

Thanks, however, I'm in Florida but I might contact you for advice on getting my system set up at some point.
