Ground, Cot or Air Mattress: Make and model please.

I have an Alps mountaineering pad XL that i like and use if I'm short of space. If I'm car camping and space isn't an issue, I LOVE my Cabelas outfitter cot. It's an XL and I've had it for at least 10 years. It's heavy and takes up quite a bit of space, but it's so comfy. Even better with my...

I love this thread as any time i see a mountain I want to go to the top of it... Here's one we hit last week... We started at Onion Valley where we were camped which is 9200ft and hiked the 4.8miles up to the pass at 11,800. We were hoping to go all the way to Bullfrog lake, but Kings Cyn...

Roof Top Tent or Ground Tent?

I had REALLY wanted a RTT and had begun researching them before last week's camping trip but never pulled the trigger. I have to say I'm kind of glad I didn't. For our situation, where there's just the two of us and the dog, a ground tent works better. Plus in a week's time, we camped at 3...

    Post trip care?

my buddy also said to leave the pin striping, but that's just not me. I work hard to pay for my toys and like to keep them nice. My riding buddies all tease me because I always have the cleanest mt bike at the trailhead too....it's just the way I was brought up. I can still here my dad telling...

    Post trip care?

Hey all, So, just spent a week getting the truck filthy and slightly scratched....wondering what tips/products everyone uses for their post-trip car care? My jeep has quite a few long fine scratches down the sides from the manzanita, nothing too deep but their still obvious after a good wash...

    Is the grass greener?

I was born and raised in the bay area and now that the kids are out and I'm nearing retirement, I've been having this discussion. I'll most likely stay in No Cal since my kids, and now my grandkids are here, but I'm definitely looking for land/house up out of the more populated areas. CA is...

Who's stock, and not planning to gear up?

I'm in a stock 14 Jeep GC Laredo - Only upgrades are real tires and a roof rack/basket. I don't do any hardcore off-roading but like to do lots of fire roads and snow travel and this thing does just fine as is...

    Pickup VS SUV

I sold my F150 4x4 and bought a grand cherokee. I love the GC, but I sure do miss the pickup truck. I had a nice shell and bedrug and could sleep in there with the dog and all my junk... Plus it carried a full size sheet of plywood when needed. I don't miss 14 mpg though...

    Food on the trail

If it's just a day trip, I'll grab a subway sandwich with no mayo and some fruit and bars. (clif, Lara, Kind, whatever) If I'm just doing a quick overnighter, I'll bring more snacks like chips, trailmix, etc and I have a small weber grill grate I put over the campfire. Usually a steak to throw...
