Switched to propane decades back. Run a stack pole with hoses and topped with a lantern attached to a 20lbs jug. Can run the stove, lantern and heater off one jug. Currently looking at converting the lighting to battery with a solar charger. Love the stove. Less hassles than the older white...
Was looking at utilizing a wall tent for a while. Mostly for the snow & cold in the winter. Back burner for now. What I am looking at now is to make a tarp & frame off the back of the camper shell. ARE with the double door that swings up providing full access to the back of the camper/bed...
My 3 cents is I am not on here for political, nor do I want to see, political discussions. There are an unlimited number of sites pandering to political discussions . Some of which I am a member of and partake in presenting differing views.
On here I am looking for a break from the "he said...
3/8s are my goto. 1/4s mostly when into the dash/electrical. 1/2 are the muscle-up when required. Dedicated 3/4s with breaker bar for wheel lugs and such. For what ever reason GM felt it was best to utilize both metric and SAE nut & bolts on my built my 99 Silverado (Canadian build).
Called "Charge what the market will bear." I have noticed most everything is grouped together in pricing. For me the pricing had a habit of moving many things to the "nice to have list". I also work my must have and nice to have lists using the local auctions. Estate sales are great. Just...
A winch is moving up the list. Have review the prior post to help narrow the selection. My question is on mounting. Getting a winch and a bumper is not in the doable near future. Looking at a hitch receiver mounting plate approach. This will also the ability "winch" the trouble away from...
Rain, snow and dry poads for the past few day. I am impressed with the Coopers. Real surprise has been how quite they are. Traction has been great. Handling great.
I have dropped the tire pressure from the tire shop of 60lbs to 44lbs front and 40lbs rear. Being an old fart, I use the old...
Hello David
Looking to do some southern exploring while the snow is north. By chance could you point me to some possible map site for southern Idaho/northern Nevada? Remote roads/camp sites, etc.
Thanks
After years of running Yokohama Geo AT 245/16s, yesterday I blew the dust out of the wallet has a set of Cooper 265/16 S/Ts put on. Running on a Silverado 2500. On the ride home I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet they were.
Truck was empty and the roads were wet. Empty means bouncy...
Crispy is ok. I oven bake mine just under crispy. When crispy it was hard to stop the crumbles. Mine reheat no problemo. Splash of oil warmed and in they go. They are warmed when you can't resist the aroma any longer.
I mostly take precooked frozen foods when I roll. Get a family pack of ribeyes, BBQ on the charcoal grill, vacuum pack and freeze. Take out to thaw in the morning and quick reheat over the fire pit dinner. Take frozen tubs of pasta sauce. A lot of what is in the freezer. I bake up 5lbs of...
Mine is a 99 2500 Silverado, 202k miles. Standard cab, 8ft bed. ARE tall shell with the double door back. Have overlanded all over the world in various rigs. Bumping tires from 245s to 265s. Building out the back, bed, storages, etc. Front is 1-1/2 inches lower the an rear. Will level...
Thanks. My LS has the 245s. Door sticker matches. Must be a difference between the HD and soccer mom models. I was counting on GM only having one body setup for all. Going with 265 Cooper M/T MAXX. Heading into our snow season should be able to do a good eval on traction.
I need new tires for my 99 2500 Silverado (Not HD). Just starting to outfit for overland. Was looking at bumping from 245s to 265s. Please advise is yours fit ok. Any rubbing? Any suspension mods I must do. Know the speedo will need calibrating. Thanks
