    Isothermic Kit for James Baroud

Hey Tom, do you have the isotherm kit for your JB tent? I ordered one with my tent and just got around to trying it... it seems pretty annoying so far, it's hard to get put up and lined up with the doors and it seems to make closing the tent much more difficult when left in place, I guess I'll...

Proper way to wire additional circuits?

Exactly. With a single small load (like 6A) the relay is kind of pointless because the size wire you're running to the load can be small. But if you're installing a few switches with a bundle of control wires back to near the fuse block, then a pack of relays probably makes sense and would make...

    Overland Communication Overview

I wrote a post on this a while back, but it got modified by admins for FCC legality. In short, Part 95 FRS/GMRS radio services require type accepted hardware which includes antenna, transmit power, and programming limitations. Some refer to it as a gray area, as you're not likely to ever have a...

What is your favorite overlanding movie, video, book, story, or inspiration?

I don't know that it's really Overland-y, but Into the Wild was inspiring.

    Overlanding in Joshua Tree N.P.?

Since you're in Palm Desert, consider taking Berdoo Canyon into the park, it's a cool drive with a couple slightly technical rocky sections, but nothing difficult. Berdoo Canyon Road branches off of Dillon at 33.799725, -116.185724 and it's about 15 miles of trail and 9 miles of dirt road to get...

    Power Wagon Registry

I actually only paid for a membership because an OB group invited me to join their Death Valley trip, without running into them I would have never done that run, so I figured I should show some support.

    Power Wagon Registry

Mine is laying around in a cupboard somewhere, I don't do stickers :tongueclosed: ...well except my callsign and I still struggle with that lol.

I've always just made her use the camper shell, lol. Although the Decked is going to make that a challenge now, may need to get a shelter. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

    Overland Communication Overview

Exactly. I should have quoted more context: "Normal non-repeated radio-to-radio can hit ranges of 90-100 miles away depending on power (based on using a 50 watt mobile aka vehicle mounted unit). Whereas the use of a repeater can double that range depending on geography." Simplex or...

    Overland Communication Overview

"Normal non-repeated radio-to-radio can hit ranges of 90-100 miles away depending on power (based on using a 50 watt mobile aka vehicle mounted unit)." This is simply inaccurate, you may want to consider revising this. Here's an excellent article explaining radio horizon for LOS dependent...

    Solar on RTT

I've seen many RVers use just 3M VHB tape and Dicor over top of the entire "foot". I purchased my JB Explorer model based on the recessed area in the top with the intention to eventually mount a solar panel exactly this way, but I have not done it yet and not sure if I ever actually will.

    Any Fellow Michigander?

Ouch! Seems like every 5W owner does that at some point though lol. Yeah, I hear that's one of the reasons they don't put the cummins in the PW, I do get jealous of them while towing in the hills though!

    Power Wagon Registry

Horrible photo, but it's what I've got on my phone and it's dark out. My compressor is mounted on some vertical sheet metal under the bed, behind the driver rear tire. It gets hit with rocks and mud but it's been there for two years and still works great, I use it about every two weeks at a...

    MAXTRAX

In my opinion, MaxTrax are worth the premium primarily because they invented the design and invested in R&D and marketing. "X-Bull" and so many others just straight up ripped off their design and have them manufactured in China for cheap. It's hard to invent something, it's easy to copy it. I...

    Power Wagon Registry

Thanks man! Yes, coax runs down the driver side C pillar. You can see the airbag stuff clearly when you remove the C pillar plastic cover, I just ran the cable behind it safely out of the way. You can do the whole job through the high brake light hole and seal it up while you're in there...
