Depending on one’s budget there is a lot of really great gear out there both new & used. I am still in the installation phase of my mobile rig (no photos yet) and I do recommend it to anyone if only for you to consider. The radio is the Yaesu FT-857 not the D version great radio talk about all...
My son came home from college for this three day weekend so he and I took the truck out for its maiden voyage. We went to the town of Cantil and then drove up Last Chance canyon and stopped at a site called Colorado Camp for some photos and lunch. We drove around a little bit more before heading...
I have only done it once before with a good friend of mine and we sucked at it but it was still fun trying and the part of getting out should appeal to this community and being spread out all over the place like you stated is a better reason to go out and practice emergency communications...
I see that I am too late to help, sorry. I was planning to go out there this weekend and maybe camp or just do some daytripping when I saw this on line. So what is the outcome of this, what should I expect? I have watched BLM takeover this location through the years and it’s not good. I have...
Jon, I like your “Influencer II” moniker. As a group of people who share common or not so common interests like over landing and ham radio, does this group organize DXpeditions or rally up for field day? Because these two things make for a great reason to go play outdoors and use these new and...

It is fun. I was able to talk to a Harrier jump-jet pilot down in the Falkland Islands when England was battling Argentina and our own troops located in Afghanistan as some of my favorites. I hope to hear you out there.
Welcome all you new ham’s and congratulations. Trail coms. local nets and Repeaters is just the beginning. There is a whole world out there waiting to talk to you and I do mean the whole world.

I bought an antenna (already had some coax in the shack) some wire, end connecters, faceplate separation kit, Ram mount parts and other odds and ends so that I can install my ham rig into the Tundra. Next will be some sliders.
Sportsmobile would convert the sprinter into 4x4 before Mercedes decided to sell it here that way so maybe one day the Metris will have this option to through Sportsmobile but until then if you are interested in the Metris check out what that company is doing to them now.
Hi everyone, my name is Brian and I live in Palmdale, CA. I just bought a 2019 Tundra so that I can get back into enjoying nature again. My experience in the Great outdoors is a bit of a mixed one. I am a trained tracker for the Sheriff's Department and did that for five years before stopping, I...
