Yeah, definitely got some blind spots but you get used to them. Would like to do some half doors for the front so I can actually lean out to see a bit. Recently changed out the stereo for one that allows for a front camera too which I mounted in the bumper. When cresting a hill or similar I can...

    Rig Mileage

'09 turned over 60K several weeks back while on the trails. Friend asked me if I knew how much of my mileage was wheeling. I would have to guess at least 20% of that 60K is from either on the trails or traveling on a wheeling trip.

They definitely don't get the credit the deserve and are far more capable than people think. I've been wheeling them for over 10 years now and in that time have shocked a lot of people by what they can do. Most of the time I am wheeling with highly modified rigs and just follow along. Of course...

No, we have a group from down here that we do at least one annual week long trip with. It's a good variety of rigs and we have a great time. This year we happened to go several places in KY. Yeah, that's a big factor on why I won't be getting rid of this truck. I prefer not to be just like...

We did some of what will be Hollerwood as well. I wish more of that would happen in other areas with counties working together to develop parks where we can go.

Sounds like a great time. One of the guys that was instrumental on getting DBBB going and completed was our trail guide when we were there and showed us a lot of fun areas. I look forward to going back someday. I was surprised how much I enjoyed that trip through KY. Yeah, I believe that's what...

We did an overland trip through KY back in Feb and a portion of the trip was on what is now the DBBB. Really enjoyed that area, you should have a good time.

    What is your rigs name

I've never really named my vehicles but my wheeling/overlanding rig is an H3 Alpha so I just call it Alpha.

    Camera Gimbal

Yeah, I like to Osmo but trying to utilize what I already have sitting around not being used, multiple GoPros.

    Camera Gimbal

That is a nice unit. Not sure I want to spend that much though on something I am not sure how much I will use. Based on what I have found I think I will probably forget about getting one that can work with both the GoPros and the phone. From what I have found the units that are dedicated to...

    Camera Gimbal

Have checked out the DJI Osmo and it is nice but looking to utilize what I already have camera wise. Didn't think about finding on that supports a 1/4 x 20 thread mount, that's a great idea. I know I can find tripod mounts for most anything I want. If I can find one that supports a broad enough...

    Camera Gimbal

I used to run multiple GoPro cameras on my rig for recording the trails and last year switched to a 4 channel HD DVR. This works great for recording from the vehicle but have been thinking lately about getting a gimbal for shots when I am out of the vehicle and of other rigs. Anybody have any...

    Snorkel, water.. Why?

Yeah, not a lot out there. Occasionally you come across one where they don't know what they have and don't list the adventure package but looking at the pics you can see the locker buttons. I had an '06 originally and when it looked like Hummer was done in '09 I decided to get the Alpha...

    Snorkel, water.. Why?

I wasn't really disagreeing with you on it. Will have to do the comparison again to get the actual temps but will need to find another Alpha to compare against as my friend sold his. I can do it against standard I-5 equipped trucks that have the same intake but not sure what difference temp wise...

    Snorkel, water.. Why?

The "cold air" aspect was never a deciding factor but I have definitely seen a drop in temps. The stock intake location on my truck is in the fender above the wheel well liner. Sure it's not in the engine compartment but a lot of heat builds up in there. You are definitely correct that the air...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

I had no idea. So if I add 4 I'll gain 20 HP, very cool :grinning:

    Snorkel, water.. Why?

I don't see how it could affect the smog testing results in any way. As @southdiver1 said all they do is extend your intake from the factory air cleaner to a higher inlet. As far as performance I don't recall noticing any but I do know my intake temps were a fair amount lower than a friends...

    Snorkel, water.. Why?

All good advice. A friend of mine carries a pocket fisherman pole with a weight on the of the line with a bobber set at his comfort level depth. He casts out and if the bobber disappears then it's too deep, if not its fine at least in that spot. Not as good as walking it but thought it was a...

    Dual battery

I personally would not think you would see benefits worth the work of doing a dual setup with that battery. It might be better than a single 12V but probably not worth the time and expense to make it work.
