Yeah, they never should have gone with the I5 and just started with the I6. I am sure it all had to do with fuel economy and fighting the gas guzzler image of Hummer.
Thanks, really appreciate it. Always looking for new ideas on what to do but it's getting harder and harder. I originally had an '06 with the I5 but when the Alpha was introduced in '08 I knew I wanted on. Traded for the '09 when it looked like Hummer was done and glad I waited so I got the...
Not a whole lot of adventure package equipped H3s from '09/'10 to choose from to get both lockers. Through in wanting and Alpha and the list gets cut by 80% unfortunately. You have some great wheeling up there. Have flown out for a few times for business then stayed and wheeled with friends.
Yeah, I originally had an '06 then when it look like Hummer was done in early '09 I traded it for the Alpha. Love the power let alone the lockers. Had the adventure package on the '06 as well but the addition of the front locker is a big plus. If I had only know I would have waited a year to get...
Current rig is a 2009 H3 Alpha and it has taken me wherever I have wanted to go so it would be hard to replace.
I prefer to be in something different, don't want to be in the same thing as everyone else of the trails that do so that makes it a bit more difficult to choose. Might consider...
Considering just getting a CI front diff can run you $2K plus it's not too bad. I have other items from them and they are very well design and made, look forward to seeing what they have done with this setup.
They have a similar setup the designed for S10s and if I recall it's $3,000 and up depending on options you choose. I have the cast iron from diff but it's still a weak link and would love to have gearing options.
It was actually cheaper than doing a solid axle swap. The major factor is that she and Rick have the knowledge and contacts to get things down. I don't have either otherwise I would have done something along those lines. I want to build the IFS as strong as it can be, don't want to do a solid axle.
Outfitter Designs. I believe they are pretty close to releasing it. Have not really looked into the pros and cons to their design yet. Friend of mine did a custom setup with a high pinion 44 and custom long travel front suspension and it does great but it was all custom. She is running 38s on...
Yeah, it's the primary reason I bought it. There are actually a lot of us that actually do wheel them. The CEO of Jeep a number of years ago actually said the number of Hummer owners that take their vehicles off road is about the same as Jeep owners, it's just there are so many Jeeps and so few...
That's an idea I have considered but I am not sure how far I want to take it with this truck. There are not a lot of Alphas out there and with only 61k miles not sure how far I want to push it. Now if I bought another to all out build it would definitely be on the list of things to do. Probably...
Yeah it's pretty obvious that those tips will improve the result of any cooler but a cheap cooler won't get the same results. Dry ice will definitely help things even more but I have not come across many country stores out in the middle of no where which carry it for when I need to replenish. Of...
I ran a Pelican Hurricane case on my Gobi for about 6 years and it never showed a sign of any water getting it. I bolts through the bottom with fender washers and gasket material on either side of the case to help keep it water tight.
Was very happy with it but when I built my drawer system...
I buy the reels of LEDs off Amazon (or Ebay) for my lighting. Have a strip just inside the cargo door on the inside on the roof to light up the cargo area and another strip in the storage area in my cargo door. Both are on switches and run off the house battery. I have the dome lights in the...
I think you will be happy. I have two a 20 qt and a 40 qt (believe those are the sizes) as well as a few of their tumblers. I have found no defects what so ever. Keep in mine the prep will be a factor in your results. Cool it down first, don't pack it when it's hot, have it at a minimum to your...
Just took a look at TruckFridge.com, had never seen their slide before. Will have to take some measurements but might just work and pretty sure it's the cheapest slide I have seen.
