No worries at all...I've been remiss in my updates, and just realized that I wasn't getting notifications for replies. Oops.
Updates: I have some.
In my goal of de-chroming Creedence, I replaced the "chrome" (read: chrome-wrapped that was peeling) updated grille for a matte black one...
Well, the engine/transmission does have to work harder with bigger tires to GET the vehicle up to speed...and the close to 9,000 GVW means that the ol' 7.3 has a LOT of weight to move!
Thanks! Another reason to regear is to help with this big rig’s acceleration and fuel mileage...I’m already down for the +1 tire size and the RTT, so I need whatever help I can get when I go to +2!
Yeah, it would be nice to see how closely RR’s recommended foot placement matches up with the crossbars inside the rig’s roof. Hopefully weIl! [emoji23]
Guess I’m just a bit nervous about having the static weight of the tent (200 lbs) be so close to the platform’s capacity (220)...the whole...
Anyone have any experience with this? The pioneer platform I bought for my Excursion came with six feet, but my RTT from CVT (Mount Denali) bumps right up against its max static weight of 200-ish pounds, with a bit of creaking. No signs of stress on the roof or rack yet, but I thought that...
Happy Thanksgiving. It's been a while!
I've been lazy with the updates, but the pictures are backing up to the point that if I don't do it now, I never will...
So, since we last spoke, Creedence received:
A new gauge pod, and...
and a Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform for our...
CVT Mount...
Well, it also involves a flush/bleeding of the power steering system and, given that the Motorcraft replacement hose was $250 alone, I’m not sure I was completely taken to the cleaners! [emoji23] Definitely couldn’t have done that in a parking lot!
Thanks for the question, which is a fair one. The S&B intake mimics the stock one, which draws from both behind the grill and the left fender. I didn’t realize this before I bought it. Fortunately, I don’t have to do too many water crossings, but I’ve been thinking about seeing how the truck...
Big doins’ for Creedence in the past month!
New rear bumper/spare tire mount from Buckstop Truckware:
...and an ARB single-screw air compressor (because we couldn’t find a good place to mount it inside the vehicle). Quick release is stored behind the bumper:
...and a BDS steering...
No, the crossmember went in without need for alteration. The pan clears it by about 1/2” or so. The pan just couldn’t be installed without having it out of the way.
Thanks, everyone, for the replies. Glad to know I wasn’t completely off-base. For me, the bike lock probably makes the most sense. That, and avoiding the areas where my wheels and tires might be an attractive target! [emoji23]
Having a Buckstop rear bumper/spare tire carrier installed on the rig this week...how do most folks keep their spare tires from disappearing? Wheel lock is an obvious choice, but I’m worried about realizing that I’ve lost the locking key (ask me how I know) when I’m in the middle of nowhere...
Haven't been super-timely in my updates, but a few weeks ago I thought it time to do some transmission upgrades. Why, you ask? Because with a 250k mile original transmission and the previously mentioned transmission overheat, I need to give my slushbox as many advantages as possible. So...
So...
