I've owned my James Baroud Evasion RTT for about one and half years. Overall I like the tent but was curious about the Isothermic kit that they sell as an option. I couldn't find anything online about how well it worked or even what it looked like. Eventually I decided to take the plunge and...
Interesting...I currently own a Jeep Rubicon and a LR4 and I'm itching for a 2017 Ram Power Wagon. The size concerns me, but I didn't think of it as a serious issue. I have a hard time squeezing my 5 y.o. twins with gear in the Jeep and I can with the LR4 but it's a 2013 with 81K miles on it...
in hindsight it appears these Jeeps just run hot. 219-229 degrees in the summer seems to be the norm. I thought I can get the truck to run cooler by venting the hood....wrong. Coolant temp didn't change at all (using a digital temp gauge)
Sometimes we learn more from our mistakes.
What's the worst accessory or product that didn't deliver or wasn't worth the money for you?
I probably have many...
Poison Spyder hood vent for my jeep (doesn't reduce my engine temps at all)
REI Quarter Dome tent (rainfly window came out completely...
Hi,
I can't answer your specific question about the rack but here's my 2 cents and this is coming from a guy who owns a RTT. When ever I go camping with my kids (5 y.o. twins) I take a ground tent. I enjoy using my RTT but having my kids climb the ladder and the ingress/egress makes me...
Here's my 2 cents on your dilemma.
If you expect to fit 1 or 2 people max - Hard shell
If you need to fit 3 or more - Soft shell
If you value speed and ease of setup - hard shell
If you want/need a connected annex - soft shell (could be partially addressed with an awning and side walls but...
I agree on both solutions. Obviously the size tire you have to air down makes a big difference. I find speeding up to find the right speed makes a big difference also. A good example is the road between Ubehebe crater and the racetrack in Death Valley, CA. I'm doing ~45-55mph and the road is...
Maybe I'm getting older because I used to not care but I'll pay a little more for quality and towards a company in the US versus something made by a company in China who's knocking off an American product. The new GoPro's are not that expensive, look sleeker and are smaller. I don't work for...
I'm a RTT convert also. However, I prefer the hardshell RTT versus the soft flip over design where you need to open windows with poles and add a cover.
