That looks pretty good. Small lightweight & several charging options. I may have to research it more and add some solar to my rig. Thanks for the heads up.
Well, not exactly today,, but over the last week I modified my rack to cary more water and got it back on the truck this weekend. Version 1 was able to carry 2 5-gallon water cans, the new set up added the ability to carry up to 3 more jerry cans between the cargo basket & rear window (25...
So the VA recently diagnosed me with sleep apnea (after a quick couple questions) and gave me a nice new CPAP device (which I'm still gtting used to). They tell me I could be OK for a night or two without using it, but for trips over a couple nights I really shouldnt go without it.
So what...
Yeah, I have been checking Dorman & ARP both. ARP is very expensive so will be (hopefuully) going with the Dormans once I find what's needed. Right now knurl & underhead length are the measurements not matchig up.
Really, during the course of a few days the amount of leaching is next to zero. Long term storage is another thing altogether, but for our purposes while out & about, with the water from the containers being used & refilled often I dont see an issue.
My wife is just like me when it comes to public campgrounds, ONLY as a last resort. We enjoy the outdoors to get away from people, not be around more of them, lol. Fortunately where we live & the areas we travel to most often there is no issue with backcountry/dispersed camping.
Agreed, usually the campfire is enough light for us around camp. When we do have to cook in the dark we now use a battery/LED lantern instead of our old propane lantern. We both can't stand the noise of the propane lantern and it has sat in the shed for a few years now. It's surprising how loud...
Our dogs (one 55 pounds the other 70) are the primary reason my wife & I still tent camp and have only briefly considered a RTT. We can get the ground tnt up quickly and cuts a lot of hastle out of getting the dogs in & out. Hopefully, someday we may go with a RTT.
Im a budget minded kinda guy, so I use military surplus aviators kit-bags a lot, as well as duffle-bags from Goodwill stores, yard sales or other places to pack/stuff most of my soft stuff like sleeping bags, including the huge 2-person bags my wife & I use.
Those are exactly what I use. Highly rugged & durable, will last a long-long time, fod grade BPA free and well worth the cost. Luckily mine were $FREE, found them here & there left out/lost in training areas when I was a contractor for the military.
Not really. I dont leave my trail gear on the rack 24/7 and when we're out & about in the back country I use cablelocks if we have to run into town or are around too many other people. One thing I'll be adding in the future is a locking tail gate latch, making it impossibleto get the cargo...
I dont have an RTT, too hard to get two 50 pound dogs up a ladder, but I do use a bed-rack & cargo basket. For me it makes loading very easy, the heavy stuff in the bed and lighter stuff in the basket where it wont effect the CG as badly. A packing job that used to take over a half hour is now...
Not necessarily, if they are going to open access they have to by law open it for all, unless they want to face major kick-back & law suits. But then it's the VA & Government, so in the end they'll do WTF ever they want, like how they went into many areas and gated off roads so they could claim...
