This is so awesome! Thanks for sharing. I was really wanting Plano cases for the top of my T4R, but was concerned about the water getting in as I live on the west coast and it rains almost every day for a good part of the year. Cheers! We'll definitely be doing this with the cases.
Thanks!
Yep. So many people I've seen that just dump a bit of water and walk away. All it takes is a bit of wind to get those lower coals up and ignitng again.

Just picked this guy up and was instantly impressed with the quality of the steel and the sharpness. Definitely passed the paper test 1st day and is really staying the test still after the last 3 months. Really happy for the price point of about 100$. As I'm Canadian, I was...
Hey all, sorry I had posted this straight to the boot camp thread, but didn't see this thread so I removed and posted it here, sorry about the mixup.
I just noticed there wasn't a thread for this already so wanted to add it as I think its very necessary. This last spring, I put out over a dozen...
Here we go! Step 2 complete.
2 drawer installation complete. Lined with water resistant carpet that was the closest colour match I could find. I have a second piece that attatches for when I want to extend out as a full bed. But this will be my every day setup.
Really cool, thanks for the info.
I think I'm definitely going to pick one up. I live on the coast, so I'm confident no matter what, I can find line of sight to the sky, clouds may interfere, but I'm sure most of the time it wont be so cloudy I can't even get a text out for SOS.
Im interested in...
Glad this thread is here, I've been looking around at air compressors and this was really helpful. I had no clue about duty cycles or anything like that. Cheers all!
how much sky are we talking is necessary to get a signal out then? It's pretty forested here, but we can usually at least see some decent patches of sky.
Got the basic shell of the cabinet together. This is going to fit really well. Back seats still fit up or down. The cabinet is nice and snug so far. Next step is to build the drawers. I'm going with 24" full extension pullouts. Hopefully going to add some other features to this as well. Will...
I decided to go with 5/8" thick fir plywood for the base. Going to build the cabinet on top. Drilled the holes shown above to mount it to the points corresponding on the body.
So I've decided I'm going to use these points (where the 3rd row seats were mounted) to mount the cabinet to the body of the 4runner, just for a bit extra stability
Thanks all!
I ended up going for the ARB tire repair kit, I liked that it was all metal parts, looks sturdy, plenty of plugs, I like the hard case, 50$, not bad. Let you know how it goes next time I gotta patch a tire.
