Tent frame for camping over tent-peg-proof substrate

I got given a Hilleberg tent on an expedition, and its been in deep snow, desert and wet conditions and rarely bother taking the stakes with me. It is free standing, but has long flaps on the outside layer and usually just weigh those down with rocks/snow/sand/whatever you can get your hands on...

    new guy in the uk

Welcome Matt, Nice disco, had lots of adventures in them before. Since it's not far away weekends in north Wales and Scotland are great warm-ups to see what you might want to tweak before hitting Europe. Plus they are pretty spectacular in their own right. Won't be making it to overland show...

    light bar glare

Could always put a 20" bar on the bonnet - much less wind noise as its not right above your head, and much less glare too as its in front of you

JK Cowl Armor - Warrior Products

That cowel step is a really cool idea, not just for RTTs - My wife struggles lifting kayaks up on the roof, and once on, getting the straps round and back, so this step would be great for that

I'll be getting onto the full membership in due time, won't be much longer - and yes, the member map will be great. I've been to quite a few shows before, but recently being down this far and with new work its a bit harder to get the time off to get to them -its not just an afternoon out anymore!

Hi Kev, thanks for that, I've been looking around that section a bit already, none of the show dates have worked well for me just yet, but I'm sure one will soon.

North Coast 500 was amazing, I had to work up in Durness, so we decided to make a trip of it and camped our way around. It was my first time in Scotland outside of Edinburgh, and I'd go back in a heartbeat - we took every one of the narrower roads, and camped by the side of lochs/the sea. Didn't...

Well if you ever make it down here let me know, I know there are a few nice long lanes round here we can give a try (not that I've done them yet)

Thanks everyone. I'm on the Roseland, just over the river from Falmouth, so a little further along Launceston. Moved down here last year, best thing we ever did

Cheers Keith, I've got a 4 door wrangler, love it. Has a few upgrades, but always more in the pipeline. I'm actually just over the river on the Roseland, we don't do mobile signal down here very well so perhaps I'm in the wilderness...

I think I just got you beat Keith, sorry! Down near Falmouth, so events are equally far away for me, perhaps we should get our own little SW meet going... Plenty of amazing places to explore in the UK, we just don't have the outrageous expanses like over the pond - it doesn't make it any less...

Hi all, I know I posted this in the long intro thread, but thought I'd make my own thread and perhaps get to know some of you more while I'm learning my way around. I'm Harry from across the pond in the UK, probably not many others on this side, but love getting ideas from you lot, and there's...

Member Introductions *NEW MEMBERS INTRODUCE YOURSELF*

Hi all, I'm Harry from across the pond in the UK, probably not many others on this side, but love getting ideas from you lot, and there's not a lot of overlanding specific communities that I've seen over here I've done plenty of trips in the past, through a lot of southern africa, mostly on...
