I Started helping my dad work on his truck when I really young. My first viehcle was a 1960 Chevy truck, every time I drove it was like an episode of Roadkill (best truck ever).
I was a KC-130J mechanic when I was in the Marines and most Marines I worked with were afraid to work on their own...
I went through East Coast Gear Supply, I pulled my differentials out and sent over to them to set up the differentials. The removal of the rear diff was a breeze, the front was a bit more involved especially having to wrestle the diff out by my self. Driving with the locker dose take some...
It has been awhile since I have posted anything on here.
As for my 4runner it is currently down, I'm in the process of replacing a cracked flexplate on top of the rear main seal and pump seal on the transmission side. Made sure to do some cleaning while I'm waiting for parts.
Soon after I get...
The plan to move to Arkansas have been postponed.
So I took the plunge... decided to regear my 4runner to 4.88 and add Detroit Truetrac in front and Yukon grizzly locker in the back. The 15th my 4runner will be sitting on jack stands for 2-3 weeks.
This is/was a worth while upgrade for me my family and I are planning on moving to Arkansas soon and I will be towing a trailer with my 4runner. For any one else, I would say do this up grade as you need to replace your front brakes. You can take your time getting the parts together. One thing...
I decided to do the Tundra brake upgrade to my 4runner. It ran me roughly 350 in parts. Bought some extended braided brake lines from SRQ Fabrications.
I will have to try it out, I heard that some people had issues with filters not sealing completely in side the airbox. I could look into the air filter grease to eliminate that possibility. I had a 86 vw golf never had any issues with dirt getting past the K&n filter it had. It had a mechanical...
I would have to admit I at first thought they were solely for water crossings my self. I had seen a timmy the toolman video adding a snorkel, he and his helper explained the benefits of one. Naturally that lead to seen more videos out of Australia discussing their main reasons for the snorkels...
Having replaced the radiator core support and adding a snorkel helped get me motivated to break away from building rc trucks and put some money into my real truck.
I leveled up my mall crawler status. My True North fabrications diy plate bumper kit is welded together just needs some finishing on the outside. The snorkel I had put on a couple months back, it's main purpose is to reduce the amount of dirt and mud in the air box.
Sorry for not responding to this posting. It has been a crazy past few months. I have see the two events have been canceled, gives me time to finish the latest project on my 4runner. I was born in San Diego, and raised mostly in Escondido, Ca. My friends down there are into the rock crawling...
Thank you, yes I did get the steering fixed, not too much work it was worn out lower control arm bushings. Once replaced they were able to get the castor to just over 3°. I also got the sway bars closer to level and they are functioning like they should. I did have to replace the steering rack...
I has been quite a while since I have posted anything here, I have been busy. I have since installed new wheels and tires 17x9 dirty life wheels and 285/75-r17 falken wild peak a/t
Just recently I decided it was time to replace the core support and fix the damage left from a previous owner...
Thank you,
My wife is doing better , about half way through her round of antibiotics. The rest of us are slowly getting better as well. I have lived in the area for about 15 yrs. and have never had a off road capable truck of my own until a couple of years ago. I do have plenty of off road...
Thankfully the installation of the lower control arm bushings went relatively easy. No rust issues with the cam bolts like I have seen other have. As for the alignment i will be trying a different shop they are a family owned alignment only shop that have been around since the '60s. Right now...
The alignment tech got as close as he could to the 3° castor as he could. I have 1995 4runner rear sway bar link on the front of my 4runner and new fronts went on the rear. I also have control arm bushings from Whiteline to in stall soon, take care of any possibility of worn bushings that might...
