Really any radio can run APRS, but the ones listed have it built-in with GPS. Just enable CTCSS @100hz on 144.39.

No problem! I just got it back from the shop. Shout out to Extreme Performance in Ellettsville, IN. They work on most to all of the off road trucks in this area and understand 4x4's. Here's what I had them do:
1. Front brakes
2. Replace front CV axle for the Dana30
3. Replace...
Did your suspension squeak before you replaced the shocks? The polyurethane mounts on the shocks could be the culprit. You could always replace the poly mounts with OE shock mounts and see if the noise goes away. Just an idea.
I'm new to overland travel, and, living in Indiana presents its own challenges. Luckily, I am close to the Hoosier National Forest for some local exploring. But I yearn for traveling west. Arizona, Utah, and Colorado are just a few places I want to spend time "adventuring" with my new family...
Meh. With a fender-bender you'll destroy whatever you hit especially if your WJ has a bumper. I'd worry about liability and people. At least ARB's bullbar for the WJ is airbag approved. Not so sure about the others. Just something I have thought about. With that being said, do any of the...
I don't plan on a bumper. I just think it's too heavy of an add-on. FawkesFab makes an awesome recovery kit that I like because it's modular. But, I don't plan on being somewhere that some maxtraxx can't help get me unstuck, or a buddy with a winch. I'll just be sure to have some cold ones...
Right on. The OME kit comes with an optional front swaybar and Ill get the Addco 1" swaybar for the rear. Add refurbished bushings/linkages/balljoints and this thing should be really awesome on/off road/overland. That is my hope at least. The 04's came with the Akebono's, so I'm good there...
Me too. Sold on the skid plate. And OME kit for suspension and upgraded sway bars. But only after I refurbish the OE bushings and end links, and any other worn suspension/steering linkage. I also have brake work to do and refurbish worn U-joints. Mine mainly was driven on the streets and...
Hello-
My name is Matt. Been lurking about for the last few years while starting a family. I enjoy amateur radio and fishing. I own a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. No adventures yet. Currently live in Ellettsville IN.
I agree. Taking the relay out for multiple services is more efficient. And, as I am researching this, I just realized that Midland is selling micro-uhf radios just like the ones that the Aussie's/UK guys use for their UHF CB band. $100 for a UHF GMRS mobile. Yeah it's only 5watts that's...

Me too!! I'm starting to come up with ideas for cross communications between Amateurs and GMRS/FRS users. CB's might get the boot from my plans just because I think using UHF is more productive in convoy comms. CB antennas are big, not efficient, and most people install them incorrectly...
Mine too, but good HT's don't have to tune anything. At least in VHF/UHF tuning is not as critical as CB's. And, the internet and YouTube has thousands of videos explaining how to tune a mobile antenna. With little effort Ham radio mobile installs are very gratifying. Here is one of my...
Michael-
Thanks for stopping by my forum post! I just got my membership ID on Saturday. Thanks again for your hard work at OB! Keep up the good work.
First off, I don't want to be telling the community what to do. Everybody has their own reasons for choosing a CB/HAM/other method for their...
