Yep, what he said.
I drive a GX470, tires happened immediately, I'm waiting for my sliders from Victory. Even taking it easy, if you crunch that bottom door frame you are hurting. Sliders seem like cheap insurance.
Back in "The day", I drove the Alaska Hwy. many many times, in all seasons. I was a Yukon resident.
You do realize you are traveling during the coldest weather any where on the planet. Your averages are way off. Vehicles just flat out do not like -40 degree weather. Gas doesn't ignite at -45. I...
Well, I put a victory 4x4 roof rack on it, sliders are on order but way back ordered.
I think suspension should be next (?) Since this car is is my daily driver I m thinking of 2" lift. Im not a car guy, so what should I look for? Price wise?
We pull an off road trailer with RTT on it.
Tires...
We drove from Midd-Tenn. to Utah last summer, what I advise is State Hwy.'s all the way. The interstates are full and nasty, while NOBODY seems to use the State Highway system. You will have a ball, meet nicer gas station/food stop people and arrive marginally later. We drove for hours without...
Washboard roads for miles. Have Air with you so you can air down and smooth out the ride.
The little visitors center outside Escalante has great restrooms. There is dispersed camping for miles so stake out your little piece of desert.
Your car is fine, you won't need sliders. Mom will have a blast. There is so much to see, even from the pavement there.
While in Moab, eat at Pasta Jays...........Thank me later.

Have a great...
Brush up on a tiny bit of Francaise before you arrive La Bell provance... There is NO English Signage in Quebec. None.
The people are nice, a lot speak English, but they won't speak it to you, at first. A simple Je ne parle pas français , or I don't speak French will help you.
We were on white rim in June. We only camped at the first campground ( Air Strip ? ) or something. It was fully booked, but we were the only ones there. We saw a ranger while on the trail and he told us that was fairly common.
I havent owned a Trooper in years. Mine was an `89, bought used in 94ish. daily driver, sold it with about 250000 on the clock. Zero problems. It still had the factory clutch ( I babied it )
I would like to find another `89.
Monteros are pretty much the same car and equally desirable.
With GMRS ranging from blister pack retail radios, to 50 watt vehicle mounted, there is little reason to use anything else. My wife loves the fact the antennas are less than a foot long.
You can buy a kick A$$ baofeng GMRS hand held for $59.00 on amazon (BTECH GMRS-V1)
. Buy a truck mount...
We only did 40 miles of the WR; next time no matter what we will do it all.
Right when you think you know what this planet looks like, Bam, there is Utah!!!
