Took the Gremlin out on its maiden voyage last weekend. Loaded up my sons' Scout troop gear for a weekend Campout. Only got this one pic while they were still sleeping before we packed up, but it worked great. Only real issue I had was the trailer will rock or roll back and forth (side to side)...

Not sure yet. Been thinking about using some RV stabilizer jacks (not the scissor style), but have also thought about just some of the weld on tounge style jacks.

Actually, you got it, i plan to use it for a fill port into a fresh water tank that I'll mount between the bed and the frame. But that's a ways down the road. LOL

My son and I followed the OAT from Altus to Mead a few weeks ago. Honestly it was pretty boring. Pretty much all blacktop. There was one section near Elmore City (roughly) that was interesting, curvy gravel road through private property that connected a lot of oil well sights.

I've been pretty proud to adhere to the "built not bought" philosophy on this project. But I couldn't pass up the deal I got on this bed rack!

Busy day! Paint, safety chains, wiring, bed remounted, & toolbox mounted. Still several things to button up like; fender flares, propane tank mount, bed rack for RTT, & I'll probably fab a new rear bumper with recovery points. But..... I present to you the "GREMLIN"!

Got the new axle and wheels installed today! This raised the level hitch point up 9" overall and gives me 17" of clearance under the center of the axle. I'm pretty stoked to finally see it up off the ground. Tomorrow I paint the bare metal and hopefully we can mount the bed back on it Wednesday.

Got a bunch done on the trailer today. Removable 2" ball hitch welded up, Trailer tounge jack attached, corner caps on my front frame ends welded on, angle iron mounts for the front box welded on, and fabbed up a spare tire hoist behind the axle. I'm not that concerned with rear clearance...

I seriously thought about it! But two factors kept me from doing so; 1) price - that would have cost me another $100 in material, & 2) functionality - I want to utilize the original suspension and change of frame elevation for different aspects of the trailer.

Now for the hitch. I ran the center joint 32" out from the front of the frame. No, this is not far enough for me to turn a full 90°, but I'm not done yet. I then took a 2" receiver tube and "notched" out roughly 6.5" so that it could set down over top of the 2x4 center frame rail. Once I got...

Picked up a 20' stick of 2"x4" 11 ga. rectangle tubing and had it cut to lengths for me. Double checked my measurements and cut a few pieces to make them fit properly. Mocked up the new frame extension and tongue. Then took it all apart and welded everything up. I don't have much welding...

Three and a half cutting discs later I have notched both frame rails back 20". What I thought was a setback will actually be a blessing. This will make my frame extension & tongue way stronger. PLUS it won't cost me any extra material! [emoji106][emoji41]

Got my supplies in to finish patching the holes in the frame. After blowing a few more holes on the inner frame (even with my welder on its lowest setting) I ground the endcap off to get an actual measurement. 0.065, roughly 16-15 gauge, channel is what's welded on the inside. I don't feel like...

Yeah, I needed to change the hubs out so I can run 5x5 hubs to match my Jeep. It was all around easier (unfortunately not cheaper) to just have a purpose built axle made that fit everything I needed.
