The plan now is to leave home in Jamestown and head to Moose River Plains on May 21.. stay the night Friday..Saturday we'll get on the Appalachian Byway in Vermont at Chateauguay Rd.. I've seen some YouTube vids and not sure I want to do this area alone..hahaha.. Then we'll see where we are time...
Moshannon is pretty cool.. We camped out there fall of '19..Went to check out the elk too, near Benezette.. Camped out on Medix Grade RD. @DevilDodge, I tagged you in another post area
OK. Still planning on the week before or after Memorial day.. We will be jumping on the Appalachian Byway trail just east of Utica,NY after spending the night in/around Old Forge/Moose River Plains, NY..The idea will be to follow the byway to the end around Baxter{?} Lake in Maine.. From there...
I'm down in Jamestown, just south of you.. The "common" area to go is Bald Eagle state forest in PA..Or any other state forest in PA.. Check out Purple Lizard maps. They have great mapping and you can purchase different maps for different forest areas around the Mid Atlantic areas.
revisiting and reviving this thread.. @DevilDodge , {and others}, have you ran this route up into Maine from PA? I plan on possibly doing this, or parts of it, this year.. I'm thinking around Memorial day.. Coming from sw NY..Just ordered some of the Appalachian Byway maps..
nobody likes Schrade? My last store bought {actually I ordered it} was a Schrade 42.. I really like the size and feel of it. Its a great woods knife and can baton wood nicely.. One of handle screws loosened a bit so I removed them all and added a dab of red loctite. But I do like it.. I also...
@egilbe, AWESOME information.. Thank you for all the insight.. I have fell waaaay behind on getting this all figured out.. I "was" considering on making this trek the week before or after Memorial Day, to include the weekends. what are your thoughts on that? Do you think, then, that coastal...
What do you plan on running over Memorial Day? I had planned on starting from Moose River Plains/Old Forge in NY and heading into Maine. I'm waay behind the 8 ball on getting this planned..
Not saying I disagree with all of your statement, BUT,HOWEVER, IF you think PA is bad, don't bother looking for anything fun in NY..lol We come to PA to enjoy ourselves off highway..Thinking its great..Don't underestimate what you have access to right now.. Its awesome in PA..
I was hoping to plan it for summer months when others woukd have kids out of school..{we don't have kids, just dogs}..Figure itd be easier to plan vaca days. I was thinking late July - Sept sometime. or earlier like late Apri to late May..
It depends really. I work 3rd shift {hopefully back on 1st soon but doubtful}..with that.. I'm thinking leaving on a Friday morning.. Its 6 hrs to Moose River Plains/Old Forge, NY.. from there is where I want to learn/see more..But being gone the whole following week to be home that next...
Just what it says.. I want to plan a group ride for next year, spring/summer.. I live 45 minutes east of Erie,PA in NY.. there would be others coming from OH.. I'd like to make a trip to ME and hit some great locations along the way. I have no final destination in ME. I guess what I'm asking is...
Ahh.. Got ya now.. Sorry for misunderstanding..Actually, since I was dragging my feet, I missed out on a used Jackery 500.. I wish I would've bought that.. I knew about it being for sale before it got posted..Still considering one though.
