    OB Approved Recovery

My personal opionion, Winching is the last resort, unless it is deemed the only means such as roll overs. When someone gets stuck I find it best to use other methods shovel, sand ladders, dynamic pull strap and even a jack. I think we as a community naturally grasp for the winch because it is a...

    Water Storage (Merged Thread)

Jim, I fully understand the water usage/waste concern, it is really the thing that holds me up in making the decision. I am aslo building a small trailer that will have some of these ameneties to save the truck space and basecamp from. BTW, I like your storage concept. I need to finish the...

    Water Storage (Merged Thread)

I use a blue 7 gallon square water cube for my trips. I have found that this has served me well for trips up to a week by myself. On longer trips or if someone is travelling with me I will take a second one. I agree with keeping the water low. I store it behind the passenger seat in my FJ. This...

My recommendation before you go throing money at your truck, understand what you want to do with your truck. What you plan to do in the wilds, will really determine what you need to do to your truck. Things to think about - - How many people will be in the rig on most occassions; how...

Mojave Road trip - March 2017

It was over my tires (33") last year. Im set up to ford water so it wasn't too big a deal. Need to take care of your diff breathers and know where your air intake is. Solid bottom.

Mojave Road trip - March 2017

I did that run at the same time last year. You will enjoy it. Everything was in bloom and the temps were perfects. The water crossing was pretty deep at the end, just be prepared for it. Good luck and hope you all enjoy.

@AZ_LR3 there is a possibility that myself and @1Louder may run up to Death Valley during December. We will be up in Glenn Canyon over the Thanksgiving weekend also this year. We did it last year and had some fun. We are planning to head up to the Paria Plateau this coming weekend to explore.

    Headed to the Northwest

Did you stop at the Sea Lion caves? I do not know what it is about that place, I just have to stop and walk down and see them. The first time I was there I was 7; oh so many years ago.
