Then the nice Fed Ex man dropped these on my front porch. New Falken Wildpeak AT3W 285/75/16:
I'm having them mounted to the wheels you also see in the picture. Having them powder coated beforehand. Pics to come
Next weekend I'll be spending the afternoon in the garage with a orbital...
First things first I did some maintenance:
- New Thermostat and coolant flush
- New heater valve
- PHH long hose
- Oil / filter Change
- new plugs and wires
- distributor cap
- tightened the front wheel bearings
Then I got to tackling my factory roof rack removal:
All so I could...
I'll use this thread to document my slow build. My plan is to build an overland rig that I can still drive daily. Nothing too crazy but I want it baselined and capable while still being comfortable enough to get to work.
Here's when I first bought the rig. 155k miles. Solid maintenance...
Just wanted to give a quick heads up to anyone who needs anything done on their Toyota. Recently took my '97 Land Cruiser to ToyotaPro in Concord, CA to have my Thermostat replaced as well as my "PHH" - Pesky Heater Hose on the FZJ80. It's a tiny heater hose in the most evil of locations at the...
quick update for anyone who's interested.
here's a pic of the rust after I sprayed the rust remover on it:
And here's the finished product with the sealing washers and bolts:
And here's the reason I did it in the first place! Full length Baja Expedition Rack:
I have a new set of wheels and tires going on my '97 LC so I thought I'd put out a feeler for the stock wheels and tires.
Wheels are in decent shape. One has some mild pitting but they're all round and good usable wheels.
Tires are Michelin LTX with about 27k miles on them. Tons of tread...
I sure hope so. I still feel like I have no idea what I'm doing haha
I'm going to do the job Saturday as it's the only free dry day I'll have for a few weeks. Is there a rust preventer that anyone can recommend? Is something like a basic rust-oleum primer good enough to neutralize the rust and...
ha thanks for the advice guys. Burbin that's quite substantial! :flushed:
I think for the time being, I'm going to sand/wire wheel down the rust spots around the nutserts, apply a rust preventer (POR15 or equivalent), then apply some rustoleum primer and white paint on those patches. Then I...
Hi guys
I recently took the OEM roof rack off my '97 Land Cruiser. For those of you who don't know, the factory racks are a very common spot for rust - even on our California rigs.
Here's the pictures of the leftover nutserts in the roof:
As you can see, there are no rust holes, but...
I was really tempted by that one, but looks like the company has gone out of business and I'd be a tad worried if I ever needed a repair or extra parts. Killer deal though.
Knoxville OHV is supposed to be pretty good. Just north of Lake Beryessa. About 2 hours from the East Bay.
Apparently it's a large BLM area with one big main dirt road, but with lots of little off shoot trails ranging from easy to quite technical.
I tried to go a few weeks ago, but the road...
Hi everyone. Figured it's about time to introduce myself. I've been driving 3rd gen 4runners for the past 6 years or so (with some light wheeling) and just bought my new to me '97 Land Cruiser. 154k miles. Tons of maintenance records. No lockers :( but otherwise in really great shape.
I'd...
