Be VERY careful storing heavy items like a High Lift inside your vehicle. Make sure it is SECURELY fastened to the floor as it could KILL you in a rollover accident. I survived a multi rollover accident and was extremely lucky that I was not injured. While I did not have a High Lift in the cab...
< See my avatar pic? Imagine stalling in that situation and trying to restart your vehicle.... Pushing the clutch in with your left foot, right foot on the gas, right hand holding up the e brake.... how do you turn the key? You need to steer with your left hand,
correct? How often have you seen...
WOW! Did you fill it with milk instead of gear oil?
To OP: Use a piece of fuel line to get it extended up as high as possible and put a filter on the end. Remember that the trans, transfer case and front differential all have breathers as well. The best advice is do not take your rig for a...
Here is a pic of my new bumper. It includes LED back up lights, LED license plate lights and the full wiring harness. The current wait time is about 6 months so I was super glad to get it instantly! More pic's will be added after the install.
gone MOAB was excellent again this year! Along with 5 days of wheeling and great scenery, I won the bid for a Max Gear rear bumper and brought it home!
Here are a few pictures -
Well.... it looks like you've got sliders! Carrying your Rotopax is always a good idea, just in case.
It looks like your rig is pretty well set up for DV. Have a great time!
Skid plates will protect your drive train and cooling system and sliders will protect your sheet metal and are highly recommended.
Since you are new to off roading, I highly suggest that you go to DV with someone who is experienced with the trails and can provide help in the case of a breakdown...
Tell us about your rig and off road experience..... that way we can suggest appropriate routes. Are you going alone (not recommended) or with other vehicles?
I might join you for this since the run on 4/28 is not happening due to the Upper Ranch closure for a motorcycle race.
There are a few (very few) green trails at HH that you could run but the majority of the trails are moderate and have some spots that may be difficult for you. I always...
Well, I just checked the events page on the Hollister Hills website and the Upper Ranch (4X4 side) is CLOSED on the 28th for a motorcycle race. We will need to pick another date.

Great thread Del! Also, thank you for all your hard work to keep trails open for us.... it is much appreciated! Glad to have you as part of the OB community.
Unfortunately, idiots are everywhere and when in the back country they think they can do whatever they want. I have seen this so many...
I've been itching to get back in the dirt so I may join in. I have over 100 days wheeling at HH and would be happy to show you around. Most of the trails are moderate, so they are good for newer folks to 4 wheeling.
Sliders and skid plates. If you come down on a rock and punch a hole in your radiator, oil pan or transmission pan you will be stuck. Sliders will save your rocker panels.
Too bad you are not coming a week earlier! goneMOAB is the largest gathering of nissan enthusiasts in the USA. We are expecting 200+ rigs this year for the week long event. Only the Easter Jeep Safari has a larger gathering in Moab!
Here is a link to the website in case you would like to attend...
Thanks for the excellent trip report. This may be the most complete and detailed trip report I have seen. Thanks for including the maps as that provides essential information about the sheer size of Death Valley.
Taking your Dad and Son out on this adventure created memories that will last the...
Now I can see them all but earlier they were not loading. Quite a coincidence that you were there last week as I was there Easter w/e..... wouldn't that have been funny to run into each other 9 or 10 hrs from home?!
