I had a pair of their boots - The Ice Dragon - which were very similar to what you have here.
They lasted for 10 years and only finally gave up the ghost after I got diesel on them and didn't wash them off - it ate through the threading the bonded the rubber lower and upper.
Nice write up -...
I would love an antenna flag on my rig. Granted, I need to find a new way to mount my antenna - but I'm always looking for an excuse to work on the rig!
Besides the axe and shovel on the roof:
I carry around a general set of tools and then particular tools that I know work for my rig: the right Allen sizes, the right crescent wrenches, wheel spinner.
I also have spare wire, screws and bolts.
I used to carry around a lot more, but then I...
When I worked for Thule I had a big jacked up Tundra with all sorts of stuff hanging off of it - and I was always stopped because of the awning! All sorts of other wild widgets, and people wanted to talk for days about the awning.
Now, with my 4Runner I get pinged about the Maxtrax 1-2x a week...
I've been carrying one for a while just out of habit - it was originally just a backpack for my day to day stuff and then it evolved.
Inside the pack is the real magic, I keep a smaller pouch full of my essentials and could literally take that and be fine, anywhere - I would have to figure a...
Thule bars are rated up to 165LBS but can carry up to 220-230 before they bend and bow - that's for the steel bars. The Aluminum AeroBlade goes up to 250-260 and neither of them fail at that weight, they just start to deform.
Thule, Yakima, etc. - keep their weight limits low to account for all...
That sucked. Hahaha. I was up at Mount Greylock in Massachusetts one winter and I was having a hell of a time getting it pumped and primed... But I had to eat.... So I finally got the SOB to start...
That's why I rely on my Jetboil quite a bit in that weather.
I've worked with the folks at ARB in the past and almost pulled the trigger on a full set up for my Tundra, but - even with the discount I could have gotten (based on the work I did for them) it was still steep. But the build and overall quality is scary good.
These vans are great because you don't need to do much to them to get them to do what you want.
I had a 2005 Safari Van and it was a beast.. They used to have lift kits for them; not sure if they still do or not.
I'll check it out right away!
Plastidip works in the right conditions on the right materials. I did all of my badging and it looks fantastic - except for my rear Toyota Emblem which I did when it was a little cold and clammy out.
All of this talking brings me back to my days before the JetBoil took over on my solo adventures... I used to use an MSR Dragonfly and it was damn near amazing.
For all of you guys and gals who do use stoves like this, Primus is launching a new winter gas that will work in much colder...
Though my experience with both is limited, I was toying with the idea of getting a Kodiak tent before I piocked up my Tagalong (OZ Tent) sold by Rhino.
In their video for the 10x14 Flex-Bow, they show the set up to be relatively easy - granted, they probably had this guy run through it a few...
Well now that you can get that Plastidip stuff everywhere, I've been blacking out everything and its held up since the Spring.
And there's actually a ton of guys SELLING those grills because they don't like them.
I tend to get a good deal on parts at my local dealership - but I don't want to...
I ran 1.50" Bora wheel spacers on my 2010 Tundra for about 80,000 miles with no problems.
