I realize I have commented on this thread acting like I have some authority on the matter. I feel it is important to give my background on the subject so that anyone here can decide for themselves weather or not I’m worth listening to.
Firstly, I am not LE or Mil. I have never fast roped out...
Until you run across a winnebago / meth lab on the trail doing it breaking bad style.
I’m not saying a .22 won’t get it done, but I am saying a gut shot won’t, even if it’s a .45. Aim for the dome, or high center chest and shoot until his down and no longer a threat.
The only thing I disagree with is when you said “the average citizens should never have to go through what our founders did”. If you read Jefferson’s writings, he thought government would grow at a rate that every 20 years or so, we would need another revolution. Our founders where so bad ass...
I’ll dive into carry insurance.
Firstly, there is a difference between insurance, and pre paid legal services. I won’t endorse one company over another, but I like the pre paid model better.
Legal insurance: there are many companies that’s offer it, and there may be subtle differences but...
While I believe open carry should be 100% legal, I don’t think it’s a good idea as a general rule. Basically your drawing a lot of attention to yourself. Putting a gun in the back window is just asking someone to break into your vehicle.
By all means carry all the time, but just be smart about...
I’ll be able to attend. I am an experienced fisherman and a novice camper. I am a fishing guide by profession, so as far as instruction goes, I can help with that. I can also bring gear to demo, etc. It would be best to get with me offline to set up that kind of stuff.
Post your biggest overland related mistakes. This could be purchases made, or bad lines off road, or terrible camp food. Post one thing that you could back and do over.
What lakes are you going to where you would even need such a trailer? They probably wouldn’t have ramps. So that leads to a whole different consideration of the trailer getting stuck in the silt.
It would be easier to just use a roller trailer instead of bunks. Back up most of the way and roll off. You will not be able to drive up, the boat will need to be winched all the way up. Electric boat trailer winches are not reliable. I saw them fail so much they really aren’t used anymore.
As already said, raising the height of the boat trailer will mean you will need to back farther down the ramp to launch and load. The first problem is that the ramp that might have been long enough now isn’t. The second problem is that your tires may end up in the slick stuff and you will launch...
I’m currently building a 2018 ram 2500. I put new front coils and shocks on and 35 in Toyo RTs. I have the torsion rear diff and open front. Could I just put a torsion front in it and call it a day or should I do front and rear arb lockers and compressor. The first options saves a lot of time...
I just thought I’d chime in a few common themes I’ve found in this thread.
Bear spray vs firearm - why not both? I live in Florida, not really bear county so I’m asking for my own curiosity. I’m sure you need to be pretty close to the bear for bear spray to be affective. If it doesn’t work it...
Not to hick jack the thread, but what are good mounting options if you don’t have a rack system? I have seen a mount that goes on the inside of the bed rail however I have decked drawers and idk if that would work
