I’ll be following along with your buildup. I have a WJ also, but I’m definitely keeping it on the much milder build than yourself. I’m also from the rock crawler world and it’s a challenge to not go overkill with “beefing” everything up. Yours is looking good so far!
Figured while I was in the mood to do interior work, might as well put in the usb in the back of the center console so my daughter can plug in her phone
Went camping with the fam bam a couple weeks ago out of Gardnerville NV on the Carson River. Great overnight trip. Peaceful and my 15 year old daughter drove the whole time we hit dirt.
This was in my 2002 TJ, mounted the RAM to the floor board near the abs module. The TJ’s as you know aren’t the most accommodating for room. Was the better idea that I could come up with
The RAM aluminum rod is pretty stiff and didn’t bounce around horribly.
Oohhh. Ok ok, ya I’ve used those straps for other applications. I’ll play around with it this weekend and test how much I can keep in the tent and come up with either using a cinch strap like the one you use or something like a adjustable buckle of sorts.
Thank you for your help, appreciate it
I am definitely going to play more with how much I can keep inside to lessen the load inside my rig.
Those cam locks. Do you have a pic of how yours are or a link to what your describing?
I wound up being offered a smittybilt RTT overlander (the smaller of the two SB offers) brand new at a price I couldn’t pass up. I’ve used it now 4 times and it’s been a struggle in knowing how much I’m able to fold up inside of it and travel with. I’ve kept a deflated air mattress and one...
We live in the concrete jungle of smooth surfaces and soft green grass. My dog is usually outside in those perfect conditions everyday. I took him camping up in the hills and we did a nice 5 mile round trip hike and about half way back he was very tender footed. Fortunately I didn’t push...
A lot of good opinions here and a lot of varying thoughts for various reasons. All respectable.
I originally started this post to either talk myself in or out of buying something newer than my current high mileage, prone to failure grand Cherokee. Seems this is about a 50/50 on buying new/newer...
I didn’t make a route map. But it’s pretty easy to find. Here is a link, just follow “horse shoe bend trail” As soon as you leave the black top there from China springs rd there is a turn out to air down. Then you’ll start up a price drive with some resident properties. Drive slow to...
This was ours this Labor Day weekend. Along the Carson River out of Gardnerville NV
Brought the gas camp fire because the fire danger level is high. A bit overkill to bring along, but having a camp fire makes it worth it
Nice and quiet, only 2 other people we seen on the way in the trail
And to elaborate on having an old Chevy, finding just about anything to keep it running can be found in just about anywhere here in the northern hemisphere. Shoot, Chevy small blocks are like finding sombreros in Mexico. They’re everywhere
