It looks like Pinon Flats campground is full for these dates in September so if you don’t have a reservation, Zapata Falls campground is FC/FS on BLM land about 7 miles SW of the park, or a commercial campground could always be an option.

Haven’t explored any of these northern trails, sounds like fun. I’ll be there!

*UPDATE* this has been pushed out to September 18th-20th due to a separate conflict that I forgot to put on my calendar. The positive is that it might be a little bit cooler than The end of August would be.

I ordered the Camco Big Red Campfire from Walmart.com today. Can’t find the big or little one anywhere in town. Camping gear is selling out around here so fast this year!

Darn, I didn’t think about it crossing over another area trip date. I’ve already got my campground reservation I’m totally open about doing the trail out and back or out and exit to go around and explore other spots. A stop at Zapata Falls could be an option.

I liked @JCarter ’s fire pit so much, I ordered one too. I think I’ll get a lot of use out of it in CO. Seems like we’re under fire bans all summer, every year.

I’ve read they’re the worst in May and June and plenty of bug spray is required. I haven’t been there yet to experience it.

I ordered the CX40 which is the midsized one. Haven’t received it yet but they are in stock and $260 right now. Big enough for a few days camping. They get really good reviews!

Chaffee County, like most around is under a stage 2 fire ban so only propane fires are allowed right now.

If anyone wants to join for Friday afternoon to hike/explore and camp Friday night, @Mike5250 and I are planning to meet 2:30 tomorrow at King Soopers, 1650 30th St, Boulder, CO 80301 We’ll meet Sat morning at the meet point in Idaho Springs to join the group.
