I'm just taking this time to go through my rig with a fine tooth comb. Super good inspections of everything. full fluid changes, torque check, re-configurations.... Just getting ready for the next trip, once all this craziness is all settled
If I thought I would realistically be in a Rivian by then, I'd join you... but until there is a major infrastructure overhaul to this country, I shall stick to my turbo diesel.
I do love my Tepui rugadized autana... I recently made a point of lowering it for ease of use. My only complaint about RTTs is waking up in the middle of the night to pee. That's when I hate that ladder... I am seriously considering an autohome or Alucab for the super duper uber fast setup and...
Well... considering that I’m on a Corona-cation.... I decided that instead of spending $1k+ on some “overland rack” I'd make my own for $100.... I wanted low center of gravity and lots of options.... unistrut seemed like a good choice... we shall see how it holds up. This set up is about 550lbs...
I think you're going in the right Direction! It's really hard to beat the wok as the pot to rule them all.
We've got a Skottle. It is really cool, and useful; however, I find it's bowl to be too shallow for about 50% of what I like to cook...... My cast iron skillet on a single burner is my go...
Got ch'ya. I can't speak for Sac, but 4x4 and More in Scott's Valley has been AWESOME for me. I had some steering issues that I couldn't resolve on my own and after a string of bad steering boxes they nailed what nobody else could.
Ca gun law is annoying, but is by no means going to make you a felon for preparing. You can still open carry on just about ALL federal land, and I do. You don't need an assault rifle to go camping with your kids. Just carry a pistol on the hip, and a 12 gauge in the rig.... you really don't need...
My rig ended up being a full size 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 because it's the one I already owned, and love dearly. She's a turbo diesel that I plan to drive the rest of my life. One of the first things that people say when they see it is, "Wow, that's big!" .... It doesn't feel THAT big to me, and is...
Not loud at all. There’s a slight hum but nothing I can’t live with.... as far re-gearing....I am running 35s with 3:73 gears. Once I’m in 4 low the torque just takes over.
I can’t say much about jeep suspensions, but as far as tires go..... I’m in love with General Grabber X3s... I’d also encourage you to go with 35s instead of 33s as that will give you more ground clearance; as well as, making it easier to roll over obstacles.
I am very happy with General Grabber X3. http://generaltire.com/tires/light-truck-crossover-suv/grabber-x3
They are great on the highway, Didn't blink at any part of Mojave Road, or Bald Mountain.
Just a meet and greet to chat Overlanding, show off rigs, and have some great beer and food
