What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

We had some mud slides and flooding around town due to the heavy rains, so I was puttering around when I found a truck that had hit the edge of a mudslide and gotten sucked into a ditch and wasn't able to get himself free. They were planning on using a ratchet strap around the axle of it and his...

    Vehicle Quirks

A quirk I forgot about till it reared its head this morning, when in particularly cold or wet, my front door latch becomes very temperamental. Whenever I go to shut the door, it just bounces back open! Sent from my Nexus 6P using OB Talk mobile app

Help - Wheels and Tires for an 08 Land Rover LR2

I believe they are talking about the land rover LR2, it came later as a successor to the freelander. It's one of the "softer" Land rovers, but still mighty capable Sent from my Nexus 6P using OB Talk mobile app

    Vehicle Quirks

My 95' is similar, though not quite as bad. Others can start it but it will take them about 25-30 seconds to figure out how Sent from my Nexus 6P using OB Talk mobile app

Help - Wheels and Tires for an 08 Land Rover LR2

Do they need new wheels? I would just slap on a set of good A/T's (Cooper's, BFG's, etc) and call it good. Their LR2 is a very capable vehicle stock, even without new wheels. Also keep in mind the LR2 does not have a low range transfer case, so bigger wheels aren't going to be too great...

    Vehicle Quirks

Many of our overlanding rigs develop little quirks as they age. These quirks are what give a vehicle its character, what distinguishes it from others. I want to hear about the different quirks of all of the rigs here on overland bound! They can range from the smallest of things, to the largest...

What tires do you like? (Merged Thread)

Do you keep two sets of rims and wheels? Or just re-mount the wheels each time?

Mojave Road trip - March 2017

Lovely write up! Soda lake can be no joke, when I went through there hadn't been any rain in over a month, however after a little foot exploration mud could be found just an inch under the surface only about 10 ft off the track. Also I want to see some poser photos from the monument!

    Off Road with AC?

I often run with the A/C on, and never ran into an issue despite the hot socal climate. I also haven't needed to turn it off while idling, and that's in a 22 year old truck (the a/c automatically kicks on the auxiliary fans on the radiator) Sent from my Nexus 6P using OB Talk mobile app

What is the difference between a tow strap, snatch strap, and kinetic , and when would you use each?

I have also seen a few people try to link two straps together using a shackle in-between... If either strap snaps or the shackle breaks then you have a mass of metal waiting to break something or someone. As someone who works with rated shackles for my job, I am surprised how many people use...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Changed the engine oil in rover, I had waited a little longer in between changes then I would have liked, but the oil was nice and clean. I also found water and dust stains in my air box, and managed to soak my distributor, again, while washing the engine bay (I think I need to either get a new...
