US East Trail Tactics, vehicle capabilties, local trails

Thats fine! Its in the state park where it’s accessible to all cars! More like a meetup to hang out, discuss equipment, tips, tricks, etc.

US East Trail Tactics, vehicle capabilties, local trails

State park on the Rhode island line in Connecticut. Trails, im still trying to find myself, and to figure out what my FJ can handle stock locally. There used to be some trails in the forest itself, some fire roads for sure but i know many got closed. The goal is to find some local trails and do...

US East Trail Tactics, vehicle capabilties, local trails

Looking to get together to discuss/learn the basics of overlanding, gear, vehicle capabilities, and to find local trails, possibly doing a group trail run to learn more. *EDIT* Just so everyone is on the same page. This is a very easy trail loop. Even a stock Subaru should handle this...

Looking to get together in CT

New England/south/northeastern folks, i just recently upgraded my vehicle from a subaru to an FJ cruiser and am looking to maybe get together for a rally, and a short trip, even just a day trip to learn about 4wding a bit more with those more experienced than myself. Im also unsure of many local...

    Non Lethal self protection

Couple things I feel that are important that aren’t being said here. 1 there’s no such thing as non lethal. The proper term is less lethal because there is always that slim chance that it does become fatal when in use. The other huge thing is it honestly depends on state to state laws of what’s...

Can Subarus drive on the beach?

Unfortunately come to find out summertime Rhode Island more than likely won’t issue a permit for beach driving to me for the two that are open in the summer for beach driving because it’s not a 4x4.

Can Subarus drive on the beach?

Not that I’m aware of unless it’s some sort of secret lol. It has “X mode” which basically keeps it in a lower range and sends power where needed which did help me in this circumstance.

Can Subarus drive on the beach?

The short answer to this is yes… however while this unintended adventure was fun, it also made me really nervous. This was my first time driving on sand like this period and I wasn’t really prepared well for this. With good tires, (I’m running falken wild peaks) it’s possible but honestly...

Wasn’t even planned but a good day! My adventure wagon somehow managed to drive somewhat on a beach. Was close to getting stuck, but managed to get enough momentum to get out. X mode did help. Sand was a challenge, don’t know I’d recommend in a Subaru but it’s not impossible

    Towing/tongue weight

I gotcha, that makes sense. I’ll look at it after work to see where I’m at. I do have quite a bit of gear in the car and on top as well. The ATV was just a thought, but the main thing I suppose is my kayaks. I’m hoping I’ll be able to add it cause I’d love to be able to go north and do some riding.

    Towing/tongue weight

Hi all, I’m not too familiar with towing but I’m wanting to add a hitch to my 2015 Outback. Now my plan is to buy a small utility trailer to haul my two kayaks with kayak bars (76lbs) and (48lbs) and possibly an ATV eventually (615lbs). The hitch is rated at a 600 lb tongue weight. Now cause I’m...

    Suggestions on kayak/roof rack solutions

I’m actually thinking about for a possible project as i work more on my outback, i might just build a custom utility trailer to accommodate my boats and then have the possibility of moving an atv as well. i don’t go down super hard trails with my car so i can’t see a trailer being a major downside

    Suggestions on kayak/roof rack solutions

Hi everyone, i’m looking for some suggestions on what i should do to get the best of all. Currently on my 2015 outback i have a yakima off grid with my ARB awning, and i have Malone Multirack that sort of fits. Not exactly how i’d like to. it slides a lot. Now i plan on adding the 18 inch...

    Where to Camp?

Hello everyone. I'm having some troubles with finding somewhere to travel to and camp at. This summer I'm trying to plan some trips around New England with my stock 2015 Subaru Outback. The state I'm having a real issue with is Maine. All the National Parks with decent sites are booked out and...
