Alright, just walked in the door from the Silver Lake and IDBDR trip. For anyone who is looking at camping bear Superior, we're going to drop camp right bear the Hoodoo Pass summit, there are three large dispersed areas within about 1/8 mile that would hold several rigs. We'll have the white 4dr...
I'm checking on here, we just got back to the cabin via the IDBR section from Wallace to Pierce. It dawned on me I don't have cell service up here, so at least @Aaron Niemi and @Paul Daniels,l know Sasquatch didn't get us! Great trip , Aaron, and loved meeting up with the whole crew.
Yeah, I plan on camping around the Hoodoo Pass Friday night, then dropping down into civilization in the morning. I'm driving the route tomorrow for another run and will scope out a few areas; will report at the end of the weekend.
Hey Justin, I'll be going the backwoods route up the 250 rd from Pierce to Superior, find a spot to crash then meet the crew in Superior. After the group hits Avery, I'll pop on the IDBDR section back to the cabin, looks like enduros and atvs are pushing through now, should be clear in 2 weeks...
@Captain Chaos - is that Pilot station you speak of a Town Pump With a Lucky Lils? Ill probably camp around Hoodoo Pass to get there at 8, and would hate to be sitting at the wrong joint. When I Google Pilot travel center, the TP keeps popping up.
Check out the threads on battery chainsaws. We live offgrid, so felling trees is a daily event, but if you just use it once in a while, I was impressed with the DeWalt saw. My 64 yr old mom is afraid of our gas saws, so I bought her one. That woman put up 10 cords on the property with it...
Not
Right on, Good to know, but it was definitely still snowed in earlier this week. Not just the elevation, there's a hairpin after the blue cabin that is the last area to melt off every year. That's why the Lolo Motorway takes so long, shade and north face.
The snow is clearing out...
My dogs come with me everywhere, and I live in and explore rough mountainous terrain. They seems to prefer a setup of a padded landing area (platform, back seats folded down, etc. With a 2" doggie bed pad on top) So when things get bumpy and off camber, they hunker down. I do make sure my load...
CB and Ham as well. K6YTI (K6Yeti). Have a loaner handheld for someone.
I need to start making a cheat sheet of HAM callsigns for our little region. I have @Sandpoint Steve 's, but maybe a talking point at the next Inland Northwest telecon.
Heads up for anyone wanting to do the Lolo and/or Magruder corridor this summer. Highway 12, which bisects ID from the MT to WA state lines will have delays of 2+ hours starting Monday, July 9th. The highway will be down to a single lane with pilot cars, with an average of a 2+ hour delay...
I'll have to do some recon for this one. Right now snow is still blocking the IDBDR from the Blue Cabin to Avery in the IDBDR, which would make a sweet and most direct return trip for me.
Sounds good, I can pick up GMRS on my radios, I'll tune one to ch 4, and you have my text #. Looks like a straight shot from Saltese up to the lake as long as you don't listen to Google maps, but always good to have some comms.
Looks like Hoodoo Pass is open, that would be faster than any other route for us from the cabin than going all the way around to Spokane or Missoula. I'm going to pre-run the forest road to the pass next week. I'll work off the drive time to St. Regis, MT, and try to meet up with you guys in...
