I've been through Gillette and stayed there a number of times in 2018/19 for work in the oilfields. Devils Tower and the Black Hills are east and are amazing. If you're into dinosaurs and fossils there's Thermopolis and Kemmerer. Tensleep is supposed to have amazing scenery. You could probably...
I ran a couple of blue top Optimas for years, they were awesome. Picked them up in the early 2000s sometime for my 86 Chevy crewcab dually 4x4. Ran dual batteries in it for making 24 volts when I jumped started heavy equipment, ran them for several years in this rig. Sold the dually and one went...

Cape Flattery is a nice short hike and stop at the Makah Museum in Neah Bay for the permit and spend some time there. Definitely stop there before hiking to Lake Ozette.
July and August can get triple digits, especially down south. There are mountains in ID with trees, lakes and rivers that are pretty nice in hot weather. Where in ID are you thinking about going?
Probably the last two weeks of August or the last week of August/first week of September 2024. I plan on going all the way to Bella Coola and riding the ferry back to Vancouver. Thinking 3-5 vehicles for this. Of course this all depends on fire and rain, too much of either and it will be a no go.
Been through there 3 or 4 times when I got tired of Missoula to Havre through Great Falls. We loved the Sugar Shack diner and museum in Rudyard last summer.
Where at? My boss at the International dealer here in Spokane was born in Fort Benton and his family still has a place up near there. I worked oilfields in ND for three years so got to drive across MT alot and fell in love with the state.
Saw the antique store but it wasn't open. We did buy some eggs from the ferry lady though. Here's a picture getting off the ferry and then going under the rail road trestle at Virgelle. I think I'm going to make this. I LOVE Montana. Fort Benton is worth a stop too if you like Montana history.
