Do you get asked about your rig?

Interesting this came up today. I was at our local REI and saw a nice 4Runner backed into a parking spot,of course I had to back in near it. As I was leaving, I saw the driver and as we both acknowledged each other he saw my OB decal and let me know that he is a member too. So I got to meet...

    Roof rack for JKU

I'm using the FrontRunner 1/2 rack on my Jeep and I do like it. However, to do it again I'd probably go with a Gobi full rack. I wasn't very comfortable drilling 16 holes through the roof and of course the front 8 were off by about .08", RTV becomes your friend! I only use it for MaxTraxx...

    OB Approved Camping with Firearms

@KyleGrant Thanks for the feedback and welcome to OB. As a retired LEO I'm very familiar with HR 218. Something to know, HR 218 is only good if you also have an ID card from your agency that says you are authorized to carry, active or retired. If not, there's the old saying " Better to to tried...

    My USA/Canada Overland trip...

Hey @Chad V, I'm in SoCal and 2 miles from LAX. There is a 4 Wheel Parts (chain) store and Dirty Parts which is a local store near by. I would recommend Dirty Parts as I know the owner and never had issues with them ordering parts, they also do installs. (On Instagram they are dirtyparts4x4)...

    GPS unit Reviews

I'm not a GPS wiz. However, I down load the DeLorme maps to my iPad and on the trail I use a Garmin Glo. This gives me a live map using the satellites. Hope this puts you in the right direction...get it? :sunglasses:

What was your first vehicle you took exploring.

This sure sparked some memories. New 1981 Toyota SR5, short bed with a small lift and KYB shocks. It was like driving a cinder block down the road.

    Death Valley Dec 9-11

We were there last weekend with a group of 13 vehicles, you can see our Alabama Hills/ Death Valley thread. Lippincott wasn't bad, a couple bumpy sections and a 15-20' slight off camber section. We had a mix of novice to experienced drivers with a mix of vehicles and everyone did fine. I...
