I heard an arcing coming from under the hood, it was an old forest service stepside. I left the engine running and was wiggling battery cables to see what was going on. One of the cable arced and i yanked my hand back, right into the un-shrouded fan blade, still have the scar today.

We are going, got our registration done. We will be coming from Temecula. We did the designated camping spot only to ensure we wouldn't get to enjoy dust and wind storms!!!! But..... Waiting to see if OB ends up with an area.

We made it back to the homestead without any issues. 6 hours to Murrieta. It took every ounce of my adulthood to not listen to my inner child who was telling me to turn for Yosemite. As every mile ticked away, I swear I could feel the weight of 'the daily grind' creep slowly back into our lives...

Transmission is done, goes back in truck tomorrow! New tent is mounted! Wife got the sub plans done! Hopefully on the road Thursday.

Right now as I type, my truck sits at the dealership with it's tranny on the floor and opened. Had a intermittent CEL that started on our way to Mammoth Area for exploring. Sounds like an input speed sensor but it could be worse, I could be at OTG with a new tranny. Moral of the story...I...
