So far really impressed with them , they balanced easy , fairly quiet , seem to work very well in the snow so far . I took a 3mpg hit but will be swapping to 4.10 gears eventually so it should go back up a bit
who knows it’s the last year of torsion bar suspension in the 1/2 tons so maybe they ran out of the normal bars and just said “ screw it toss in whatever we have laying around “
Winter exploring is my favorite , even roads you have traveled a hundred times take on new splendor and beauty being covered in a blanket of white and a lot of new viewpoints open up when the leaves fall off . Another plus is usually there are way less people out so you don’t have to travel as...
First couple months I owned it I just left it alone and drove it , got rather good mileage at 20/16 but the tires where just garbage on anything other than dry roads .
Already did shocks the problem actually is the bars . Going off the rpo codes and tags on the bars they are rated at 7600lbs a piece and normally 1/2 tons are in the 3-4K range depending on what packages where added from the factory . So just to make it ride reasonably comfortable even with the...
unfortunately the ride is absolutely garbage due to having and I don’t know why the same torsion bars that come in a 2500 hd diesel so it just rides like a brick
Searched for a while to find a lower miles , pnw owned in good shape Silverado or Sierra . In all honesty I was looking for a 3/4 ton but couldn’t find in good shape with low miles that wasn’t a rust bucket east coast rig . Ended up finding this one owner 140k miles Sierra . Having a truck is so...
Wanted the taste of fire cooked bacon and eggs so we heading to a little River after a morning hike and just chilled out for a couple of hours doing nothing but listen to the fire crackle and the water tumble by . And the little lady made some friends
Ill just pick up some junk yard ones for now , the problem with the ones in it is for some odd reason it was built with a set that usually comes on a 2500hd with a diesel so the pound rating is 2x what a 1/2 ton should have so it just rides like a brick .
Take a nalgie or other very sealable bottle and fill it 3/4 the way with boiling hot water make sure it’s sealed tight and toss it in the foot of your sleeping bag , helps to get the bag warmed up and stays hot for hours . Also put tomorrow’s clothes in your bag so they are nice and warm when...
Got the canopy shortened .... a little to much , I didn’t account for the way the tailgate comes out in a small arch it’s not straight across. Oh well it’s on and will serve it’s purpose .
Next on the list is swap out the torsion bars for a lighter set , a wheel hub and a body lift . .
On the good side I Picked up a canopy for free that’s in great shape , downside is it’s 8” to long ... even more downside there’s not 8” of material on either side of the window so I will have to take 4” off both the front and the back . Seems simple enough but we will see tomorrow .
I’ve been in Oregon my whole life and if it wasn’t for the coast I would choose Colorado in a heartbeat. love the state , hate the politics , taxes and cost of living .
