Hard to go wrong down there. Pick a road and go down it. There's a spot we used to love to use just north of I-8 that overlooked the wind farms outside of Ocotillo. Would be easily accessible by an Outback.
This link should be good. There's a cluster of rocks you can drive around and setup...
Keep in mind you can sell those extra items you want to get rid of to non Pro4X owners who want them for their truck. If you start with a non Pro4X and decide to put just a locker in by itself later you can plan on a 1000 dollar minimum unless you can do the work yourself. Double that or more...
Got the tub the rest of the way painted. It's not the greatest. Its a "100 foot" paint job. I tried my hand at bondo for the first time.....you can tell
2bbl carb. Yeah it's two tubes. One goes to the carb choke assembly piece on the side and i forget where the other goes right now. But it's a single unit. They both go to a plate bolted to the intake manifold and they both look like they were attached to it at one time. I'll try to get a...
I got my TSMs. The heat riser for my carb choke is broken at the base on one of the lines. I can't find this part new so am looking at just epoxying or brazing the tube back together. I've also thought about just converting to a manual choke.
I basically want what's still there to work. The Air pump and evap canister are long gone but there are still ports and what not on the intake and carb that were just capped with screws that I would like to clean up and re run if possible.
Beyond my ability, I don't have any dollies, I'm not that concerned with it. Most likely a HAM or Commercial radio is going to go in that slot and I'll make a trim ring for it. I'm not shooting for show quality just somewhat presentable.
Some light work today. Got the dash panel mostly put back together, got a few of.the emission lines sorted out but not all and replaced the damaged tie rod on the drag link.
Wouldn't mind finding a repro of the vin tag that was on the dash.
Rest of the drive train is now in.
Got the PS pump and hoses hooked up.
One of the previous owners replaced the low pressure line with a section of airhose it looks like.
Got the fuel tank backin as well with new hardware and Rubber lines.
Today im going to try to "unf%$k" the...
Finished up the AMC20. That was my first gearset install. That was my last big obstacle with the frame and drivetrain going to drop the tcase and driveshafts in tomorrow then I'm down to some bodywork and paint. I can kind of see the light at the end of this tunnel.
This is unfortunately a mistake many folks make, assuming because someone wore a uniform (police or military) they know anything about weapons. I did fire arms instruction for rifle and pistol for the better part of a decade, I saw so many messed up situations with people who should know...
Tore the AMC 20 rear axle down on the CJ. One of the previous owners apparently did me a favor and put one piece axles in it at some point. Got a good chunk of the work done. Got the carrier bearings removed and new ones put on along with the ring gear. Got the old pinion races out...
Burned up a lot of paint and primer today doing the underside and inside of the tub.
Oh and make sure you have decent PPE. These are the prefilters for my organic vapor canisters.
Had a few days off so got plenty done. Not much in the way of pictures.
XJ:
Inspected for a noise in the rear drums
Readjusted Brake shoes
Replaced battery hold down bolts, when I went to the larger battery the old ones were no longer long enough
Found a nail in the front passenger tire. The...
Out here East of Dallas I don't go out on the backroads after it rains for like a week unless it was alight sprinkle. The roads that aren't gravel turn into quagmires.
