Beadlocks are a nice to have. Honestly the money is better spent elsewhere. It can also be hard to find shops that will want to deal with them and many just will not balance them because they don't want you using them on the road. I'll run down to 15ish PSI on my stock XJ tires and don't...
Happens here too. For some reason we have a super fragile power grid down here. You breathe too hard and the power goes out. And we're probably less than a mile straight line from the GEUS powerplant. When the"not a tornado" hit downtown Greenville we were some of the last to have our power...
That's what I do in my XJ if it's just me or just me and the kids since they ride in back. I yank the passenger seat. It's a maybe 5 minute job. Cooler sits there along with a go bag infront of it. Works great and I never even pull the cooler out at camp it's the perfect height for getting...
I assume you're probably down there already but the State Park is IMO better if you are into out of the way stuff. The national park is nice but the vast majority of the park is passable in a sedan. Black Gap is the only one that could use 4wd and is generally passable in a stock vehicle.
It's not like Co or the western US down here. There's basically no public land to wheel on. Your only legal options are mostly OHV parks. The closest ones to DFW are going to be Northwest OHV park in Bridgeport and Barnwell Mountain OHV park out in Gilmer.
That's awesome. We had one right about the time I got my Driver's license can't remember the exact year it was the first gen. WE took that thing everywhere. I would love to have one around, I remember it being a lightweight fun thing to drive. Real manual shifted t-case, manual trans. Loved it.
Currently putting back money for my next purchase which will be a T4 plus tent to better accommodate the 2legged and 4 legged family. I'll have to haul it on the roof rack of the XJ but beats the current setup we have for family travel.
Probably very similar usage.
I had to re look it up but it was Aussie UHF CB not PMR that has repeaters. They have a pretty impressive CB service. 80 Channels, about 30ish of them are repeater inputs/outputs. Max power 5 watts.
It's a nice route starts at the 3 sticks monument and runs the Eastern Portion of the K-Trail. wiggles around on NF roads over the Kalimena Skyway and a few other ridge lines and ends in Heavener. Should be doable by your vehicle as long as it hasn't been raining too much. There are a few...
No they're not. The Ouchita NF extends out of Arkansas into Oklahoma and down around Broken Bow Lake. Plenty of NF around the lake and north of it to explore. But as @Boostpowered mentioned watch out for posted off limts area and what not. While there is a ton of NF around there it butts up...
I used a set of generic amazon "off road" lights that are typically used on a bumper or the like. I have one mounted just in front of the gas tank up out of the way that shines forward and another that is mounted to the rear bumper protected by the receiver hitch that shines backward, both are...
VHF/UHF 2m/70cm specifically, technicians have access to other spectrum but you'll find the 2m/7cm bands to be the mostly commonly used. You can google up a band plan.
Loaded the CJ up with some steel targets and a few guns and hit the range. After that I hit up Wal Mart and grabbed a new fire extinguisher to put in the CJ and replaced the 45 year old throttle cable and snugged down the headers.
Last time I was up in that area was 2016. Was pretty empty then.
Unfortunately for those who like to get out there away from everyone else this is what it's going to be like for the foreseeable future.
