If we're being realistic the FCC doesn't have the time/money and manpower to go after nearly every GMRS user, and it typically takes MANY complaints before they do anything, they're not out there patrolling like a county sheriff. But if you're mentioning being legal with the license it's at...
As long as your callsign is in the FCC database that is all that matters. There's no legal reason to carry a paper license with you unless you just feel like it. Also keep in mind that channels 15-22 are also repeater outputs and there are a growing number of GMRS repeaters out there so if...
I've had that experience up there as well. The Ouchitas are a fairly well kept secret at this point. Seems like most of the traffic is pretty close to major highways with SxS and ATVs staying closeish to the majory highways like 259 running north out of Broken Bow and the areas around Mena...
It's good to have a heads up but the article read as more of a fear mongering piece to get people to join whatever lobbying organization they rep for 50 dollars a year.
I think all the currently built battery tender brand models are AGM compatible. NOCO IMO makes a better though more pricey one, I believe most of them are compatible with wet cell, AGM, and lithium.
I like that. May have to steal some of it for my CJ when I trust it enough for solo or 2 person trips. Modular/removable for when I'm home and dont' need that.
Absolutely right but I can't force the guy to let me look over his Jeep. Pretty much everyone there knows about the bandaid steering stabalizer. I've been in XJs more than 20 years now. Dealt with the wobbles more than once. But he wants to let Jeep deal with it under warranty for now.
1976 CJ5. 304 V8 T150 transmission, Dana 20 Tcase, AMC 20, DANA 30. Not really something I use for "overlanding" yet havent built that trust up. But I would eventually like to take it on longer trips. Its mostly used right now as a gravel road runner and around town runabout while i iron out...
Battery tender mounted overhead. Also storage in a garage when not in use. I will not have a garage and have my vehicles "living" outside. And sealed AGM type batteries.
Possibly, but it's brand new. Doesn't even have 10k miles on it yet, he picked it up with only a few miles on the odometer. I've offered to let him come over and we would go over the front end with a fine tooth comb but I think he's content to allow the warranty process to work it's way out on it.
The TJ's suspension design (front) first showed up in the Cherokee XJ in 84. But any solid axle vehicle can get death wobble just seems like the Quadralink system is very intolerant of worn parts or out of balance items compared to a leaf spring solid axle setup.
A buddy of mine local bought a JT and had steering shimmy as soon as he drove it off the lot. This progressed to full blown death wobble after he added lift and tires of course (seems to be the first thing many new jeeps get before the nubs are even worn off the factory tires), which as a stop...
I'd take those K&Ns and toss them in the garbage, or sell them to someone who just has to have it. Paper/fiber are much better at keeping out contaminants. Here's a test done to ISO standards on the K&N vs something like a stock replacement AC DELCO filter. K&N is a good marketing company...
Their US headquarters (Massimo) is not far from where I work. I may need to swing by there after work one day and ask if I can check out one of these power stations. We run calls over there every once in a while.
I think I've only seen it called FR6025 on one other trip report. Where the Firetower is at and pretty much the whole road west of the 3 sticks monument is no longer National Forrest. It's known as County Road D1650 now. And you really don't get back into the National Forrest until you're...
Took the kids out yesterday just running some more gravel/dirt backroads I haven't been on yet around the county.
Came across the "Redeemed Christian Church of God" North American headquarters. This is basically a Megachurch in the middle of field just north of Floyd, Tx. They own a lot of...
