I am in the Belleville IL area, i've been looking at some of the overland routes that pass though Mark Twain. What bed length is your camper shell for, and what are looking to get for it?
I've just been looking at a rack setup myself and came across UP TOP Overland. They make racks designed to allow for those bed covers. TRUSS AFS RETRAX (Adaptive Full Size Bed Rack)
I dont keep the rack on all the time, i've looked into a tow hitch as well, but if i add it i will do the work paired with a lift of somesort. From the ones i've seen you lose a bit of ground clearance.
Size 7 Crocs for scale. It packs down into 2 base pieces and 4 poles. Admittedly the base plates are an awkward shape for storage/stacking due to the pole slot. I am still trying to come up with a truly effecient storage option that doesnt have them simply sitting on each other and rattling with...
Its the Kammok Mantis. It has a built in ridge line and bug net, as well as tie outs to widen the head area if you want to. The kit also comes witha tarp and 6 stakes. Its a solid system from my experience.
This is the ENO Roadie hammock stand. Its got a solid steel construction and has held up well over night and after a few uses. The only thing i may change is replacing the poles with longer ones, it can feel like it hangs a bit low.
Some more updates, i have a Roof Rack now, as well as a bike rack. I installed L frame rails for attachment points on the driver side plywood. And put in a rubber matting. Right now its a simply tool box liner but it seems like it will be grippy enough to help prevent sliding and rattling.
The seat delete is my current project. I was planning on moving the spare tire to the roof, but someone on my build thread brought up weight. In light of that i'm going to keep it in place for a while.
This weekend i'm replacing the rear tire cover piece with plywood, and making a fold out...
I figured it out, if you want a guide/pictures check out the thread i linked. I put it up after not finding anything online for guidance.

I'm moving to Montana when the restrictions lift, and i'm planning on taking the scenic route. I'm open to any stops or suggestions. Right now i'm looking at taking 15-20 days.
White Sands (Maybe)
Joshua Tree
Grand Canyon
Zion National Park
Grand Tetons
Yellowstone
I plan on powering through to...
This is my first venture into Overlanding, or vehicle modifying/outfitting. The goal is to have something i can still comfortably use as a daily driver, but also be able to take to national parks, forests, and wherever else i can think of.
First up will be a RRO roof rails and cross bars...
