I know that I am super late in responding to this thread, so apologies. I ended up buying a Snugtop Rebel with the Sportsmans package to handle 500# on top. Haven't thrown the tent on yet, but plan on doing so soon.
I also built a custom unistrut roof rack to handle the tent. Saved me $500 and...
Hey team! My name is Ryan Kelly (Fortis Overland) from Colorado Springs. Excited to start joining trips in the near future. I drive a modified 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road. I will be unable to make the Utah trip as I'll already be in Zion around that time, but will definitely be up for future...
MOAB DAY 3
This was our final day on White Rim. Originally we had planned to camp along the river, but the mosquitoes were out in droves, so we chose to continue on through White Rim and exit towards Moab. We didn't take many pictures while exiting the trail. While the truck did great in stock...
MOAB DAY 2:
We were woken up at Shafer Campground the next day by a Desert Big Horn Sheep trampling down the cliffside. We proceeded to cook up some good breakfast, and started our travels on White Rim Trail.
The second day consisted of primarily White Rim Trail, but we ventured off the trail...
We were off to Moab! The plan was to hit Potash Road, camp at Shafer Campground for the night, then make our way on Canyonland's White Rim Trail (100+ miles) the next day.
This was our first major trip, and as we were trekking down Shafer Switchbacks, we were in awe of what we were about to...
It's been a long time coming trying to create my build thread for my 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road. I'm going to try to do this chronologically, although I have a ton of pictures to sort through.
Here's how she currently sits:
Current Mods:
OME Nitrocharger Full Lift Kit
OME Heavy Duty...
I run 285/75/16 Falken Wildpeaks on my 16 TRD OR. The spare, while it doesn't fit perfectly, works just fine at a slight angle in the lower spare position, and I have had zero clearance issues to date. No issues getting the tire strapped in tight.
Perfect! I think I'm sold then. Just have to find a good deal on a used topper or fork out for something new. My plan is to build a DIY unistrut rack on the topper (super strong) and run the tent that way. Thanks!
This is definitely one aspect I'm not looking forward to. Currently, I can pull my truck into the garage with the RTT on. That'll all go away when I get the topper unfortunately. On and off after every trip
I think 10 years is liveable for sure, and if Leer replaced it for free, I would have zero worries. My tent is also smaller than yours, so I would hope that a topper would last a long time. Thanks!
