Hi everyone,
We're heading to Turquoise Lake in Leadville, CO this weekend from Colorado Springs. Does anyone have recommended camping spots in the Leadville/Buena Vista area worth checking out? I've already given up hope that we can snag a paid spot along the water, but am open for anything in...
After waiting 40k miles, I finally lifted the vehicle. Couldn't be happier with the setup. HeadStrong Off-Road helped set me up with the proper hardware for our overlanding needs!
OME Nitrocharger Full Lift Kit

Heavy Duty Dakar Leaf Pack

They were great when we were camping. The packaging said that there was a low and a high setting, but mine only has high for some reason. Luckily I haven't had to change the batteries yet at least

If you're in the COS area, our go-to trail is Mt. Baldy. It'll show up as a green trail on the FunTreks site. That'll take you through some switchbacks and eventually lead you to a stop point where you can hike to the peak. I've yet to hike it, but it's a popular trail. There's also plenty of...
I actually have yet to do it, but it's been something that we talk about every year. I'm in the process of lifting my truck currently, but I think after that's complete we'll try to make a trip out of it. Maybe worthy of another OB meetup?
@Dirt Roamer Check out the FunTreks website below. I use them for my trail research in the area. If you're okay with driving a little further, take a look at Medano Pass, which will lead you to the Great Sand Dunes

Bummed I missed out on this. We were at the Grand Canyon at the time. Definitely keep the group updated if you want to do this again. We'll do our best to make it!
You can make it through in one day, although camping overnight makes it a lot more fun. That's a bummer on not getting a camping spot. Definitely pencil White Rim in for the future.
I haven't done the trail yet, but I've heard Rimrocker trail from Montrose, CO to Moab is a lot of fun. Heard it might get rocky though, so I'm unsure if you need the sliders or not for it. I have only done Moab stock, but the full 100 miles of White Rim Trail is always a go-to for when I go out...
I'll be testing out 2 luminoodles this weekend out at the Grand Canyon. Will post photos in this thread on their output. I also picked up two CAT led lights (magnetic, and battery powered), that can attach to my RTT rack, at Costco for $20. Might prove to be one of the best bang-for-the-buck...
Ok good to know. I have leafs in the back, but will be adding a progressive add-a-leaf pack that should keep me at or above level, even with a heavy load. I'm considering the OME heavy duty coils in the front which are good for about 660 lb spring rate. OME says this will handle both a bumper...
@Etoimos Stumbled on this trail, easy overland trail, but might be worth looking into if the group decides on Dinosaur National Monument. Supposed to produce nice views.

Thanks for the reply! In regards to setting up the spring rate based upon future upgrades, do you have experience running the stiffer coils with no added bumpers/weight? I'm worried that getting the stiffer coils now could result in a rough ride, at least until I upgrade the bumpers and add the...
We then set off for our next campsite for the night, Murphy Hogback. And we had no clue what we were in for...
Night came, and the light show began! Pictures don't do this justice! I set my watch alarm to wake me up at 0100 the following morning to check on the stars, and they did not...
We went down Lathrop Canyon and decided to give the Crawl Control a try on the Tacoma for the first time. Worked great! Even though we were aired up to 40 psi, the Duratracs took to the sand with no problem. We finally made it down to the Colorado River.
From Shafer Trail, we ventured onto Potash Road to get a glimpse of our campsite (Shafer Campground) for the night and to do some exploring.
The Colorado River from Potash Road, Moab, UT
Near Thelma and Louise Point on Potash Road. Epic scenery!
We then came back to Shafer Campground and...
