    2004 WJ Laredo

I'm at a loss. Unless there's an issue further up stream from it...I can't really say

    2004 WJ Laredo

Ahh I see. Wonder if it's a bad door sensor.

    2004 WJ Laredo

Did you solder the wire splices? I have heard and experienced a "failure" on any connections other than a good solder. Is it just stating the door is open or can you not lock/unlock or use the window?

    2004 WJ Laredo

Sorry for the lack of updates. Been busy with work. I did knock out a couple small projects within the past few weeks. Got the rear suspension sag issue resolved with some new spring isolators (upper and lower), as well adding in a trim spacer on either side of the rear to compensate for the...

    Cookware that stows well?

This is what I use from Stanley. I like having all of the bits packable. I am able to store some items inside of it since I don't use everything included all the time. Granted, this replaced using normal kitchen cookware, but I like how it is still versatile enough to use in the kitchen both at...

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

Bought some ActionTrax boards a couple weeks ago and just got around to building the mounts for my rack. Installing today once the rain lets up. Bought some webbing to make my own leashes for the ActionTrax, so I'll sew those up maybe tonight. I plan on buying RAM Mounts parts for my iPad nav...

    2003 Grand Cherokee Laredo

Looks like you had a bit of fun! I would love to take my WJ out that way soon.

    Retired my jumper cables

I have a Noco Genius GB70 as well but I still carry jumper cables. The jumper packs are great until you have to jump a really low battery. Ran into that scenario a few times (not on my rig) where there wasn't enough to bring the battery back to life. Jumper cables to the rescue!

    ARB awning, please HELP

Are the round bars just the cross rails or are you referring to a basket? I have an ARB awning mounted to my Yakima basket using FourTreks mounts. These mounts are very pretty and stout. Probably overkill but they are super nice and offer a bit of adjustment. FourTreks makes some bomb mounts.

2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Build

Thanks for the words! I have yet to ever rebuild a tcase or install a SYE kit, but I'll keep this mod in mind when it comes time. I don't really want to spend $700 on labor for a rebuild and SYE install on top of the already spendy cost for parts. Might as well beef it up to not have a failure.

2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Build

I am unfamiliar with the 6 gear planetary benefits or really any info for that matter. Can you elaborate? I have a 242HD sitting in the garage waiting on a SYE and rebuild kit in the future. Thanks!

Road trip building a Ford Transit 4x4 Poptop for SEMA 2019

If you want to meet up, I live a stones throw away from the KC area in Emporia, KS. Give me a holler!

    Last minute meet-up

I know it's last minute and all, but if you have free time this Saturday, my local overlanding group, Konza Overland, is holding a little meet and drive event. 130 miles of some chunky, rough back roads. https://www.overlandbound.com/event/meet-and-drive/

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

No pics, but I plan on building some mounts for my traction boards that will go on my roof basket.

    Help with cold weather trip

Most everything I would suggest has been covered. I would also suggest hand warmers in the bottom of the bag.

2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Build

I have yet to find anything definitive with the stock rails and RTT's. The cross rails from the factory are junk, so I'd look into Thule, Yakima, or FrontRunner for those. I run the stock cross rails with my Yakima basket and they have held the basket and about 150lbs no problem. I have a full...

    Big Tuna Presents: Pegasus Rising

Check out Fawkes Fab for some good front recovery points while retaining the stock bumper. I've had these on my rig almost the entire time I've had it. Build time was the only time without. They are solid recovery points that I've towed other rigs out with a few times. In regards to your cooling...

    Big Tuna Presents: Pegasus Rising

Question on the control arms. I am nearing replacement on mine as I'm sure the bushing are about to split. I have looked into some options such as IRO, but want to retain the solid feel of the stock bushings and minimal maintenance such as not having to grease or grease often. Any recommendations?

Looking for a way to heat up the tent with out propane, or electricity

Wear long johns, socks, a buff, and stocking hat inside the sleeping bag. Make sure your sleeping bag exceeds the lows to be expected. Be well insulated under your sleeping bag with a foam mat as air mattresses tent to sleep colder. I have used cardboard and a reflective tarp under my mat...

    Would like some advice

Like a few above me have stated, think about where you plan on going and what you're going to do there. That should help give you a better idea of what to do to the truck. Good tires are a must regardless. Some recovery gear is needed as well. First aid, comms, flat repair and air are some other...
