The Garmin Map Install program wants to send it direct to the device and the file name on the device is the same no matter what the map source. In theory you could probably do what you suggested but you still need a way to change the names back and forth on the device itself, i.e. a computer...
I'm super tempted to pick up a Nuvi with a 6" screen for better visibility purposes and load it up with Topo maps. They are definitely very affordable.
It appears the older units like the Zumo 550 can't read multiple map images off the SD card. For example, if I install the Pacific region of the Topo maps to the SD card, and then I want to add the Mountain region, it overwrites the map image file. I was able to get the City Navigator update...
Interesting note - I reloaded the Topo and now the City Navigator 2020 update is gone, but the Topo map does in fact show up and is selectable. I will keep experimenting and report back.
Tried this out on an old Zumo 550 but the maps still don't show up as an option to select on the Zumo. Everything looked like it was working/transferring perfectly, not sure what the issue is but it almost seems like the last map transferred over, which was the latest city navigator is the only...
Yeah, I updated my InReach last year on one of the Costco sales so I won't be upgrading mine anytime soon either. Agreed though, nice looking unit for sure.
Hadn't heard of the 66i either:

The issue is the Odyssey battery charging profile versus other AGM batteries. There is a CTEK listed on the approved chargers list but no NOCO products.

I found the spec sheet which shows it has an AGM+ mode that goes as high as 15.5 volts. The Odysseys have a very specific charging profile from what I remember when I was dealing with my Diehard Platinums. I'm not sure if using the AGM+ mode would ultimately be damaging to the battery.
I just put a ratchet strap around the tire when I put on the Trasharoo, it holds it in place while I hook up the straps. Takes 5 mins tops. I don't drive around with mine on 24/7 so UV issues haven't been a problem. I live in California also, and have never had an issue with rodents getting into...
I used these:
Air Lift Bags
This was based off info from a guy off the AEV Forum, the width is perfect but they are a little tall, maybe a 1/2" extra. That said, I've had zero issues with them. I will suggest pulling your springs to install them, I tried to slip them in as the directions...
I added Air lift bags to my AEV 2.5 lift and it has made a world of difference whether the RTT is on the JK or we're towing our trailer, a few pounds of air stabilizes things quite nicely. The other advantage is when you are not loaded up, you can let the air back down to the minimum and your...
