    Wrangler Unlimited Roof Rack

I helped my sister sift through every roof rack/basket system on the market for her JKU. The best and most low profile we found was the GOBI. We ordered it a few months ago. Right now there is a 12-16 week lead time. If you go on their website, they have dimensional information that can answer...

    Roof Top Tent (RTT) Questions

For sure! The first time I heard about the exped from my sister who is also an avid camper, I thought 250 bucks for a camping mattress was outrageous. Then we went and got one after she kept urging us, and wow, it's amazing. It feels comparable to my bed at home which cost us over a grand...

    Lil Red trailboss build

Nice truck, before going to 35's check your axle code and see what gearing you have. Once you go over 33", you may need to re-gear your diffs, especially if you plan to also tow. Going to 35's is the next level and can throw off your transmission shift points, and MPG without either...

    Overlanding with a Honda Ridgeline

The Honda Ridgeline has a very effective AWD system and while it is not a traditional body on frame truck, you should be able to get to many different places in it. The most effective modification you can make to your Honda (this goes for almost any vehicle in my opinion) is a really good set...

    Overlanding with "stock" 4X4

Stock vehicles, especially many of the newer vehicles can get you through most places on the trail. We own a Jeep JK 2 door, and I have never felt the need to make any modifications to it. That thing is bomb proof and can go anywhere we have taken it. I know that Wranglers may be an outlier, but...

    Roof Top Tent (RTT) Questions

I never pulled the trigger on a roof top tent, but when I was weighing out the decision to buy one a while back, the two biggest pros for me was that a roof top tent will keep you off the ground. The ground can suck the heat right out of you. This and ease of use compared to finding a good flat...

    Has overlanding become elitist ?

Don't be embarrassed, just do YOU! And you can camp in bear country with a ground tent. I still use a ground tent, just hang your food up in a tree, and keep things active at your camp, have a fire going at night if you can, been doing this for over 2 decades, have never had a bear encounter.

    Has overlanding become elitist ?

There is always an elitist level to almost anything. Play an instrument? Pretty sure there's a guy out there who is trotting around with one of Prince's guitars that he bought at an auction. Do you play hoop? I bet there's a guy at your gym with the Barcelona Jordan's, the compression tights and...

Hello from Arizona - Volvo XC70

Sweet ride! I'm new to this forum as well. I owned an XC60 T6 and we loved that car. I've also owned a pair of subie wagons that were very similar to your Volvo. I ran geolanders on them. In my opinion the best tires for the money for a wagon or crossover.

New to the forum, but not to the outdoors!

That's awesome. That's the weekend of my son's B-day, but if I get some free time that day, I will definitely make the drive and check it out. Thanks for sharing.

New to the forum, but not to the outdoors!

As long as I have been exploring the outdoors, I have only recently been documenting my travels with a gopro. I've been exploring California in everything from trucks, to subarus to a ford focus that I would pack with stuff to go hang out on the beach for a weekend. I hope to create some good...

    Death of the “Coleman” Lantern?

New guy here. My wife and I have been using the same gas Coleman lantern for about 13 years. I've owned several LED rechargable or conventional battery lanterns and they never hold up more than a season of camping for me. I also don't have to worry about how I am going to charge them. I bring a...

New to the forum, but not to the outdoors!

Hi all, after lurking this forum for a long while, I finally joined up. I am new to this forum, but not to the world of overlanding. I have been getting out and into the outdoors for more than 20 years, long before I have ever heard of the phrase "overland". I started as a teenager in an old...
