    Lighting up Camp

For the set up I use working lights attached to the rig. If they are too bright, I am using red plexiglass to cover them. If everything is set up, I use multiple crush chroma lights by goal zero. You can attach them to nearly everything because of the handle construction. Plus, you can fold them...

Gas Lantern or Battery powered Lantern?

I prefer the battery-powered lights. One of the most remarkable inventions is the Crush Light Chroma by Goal Zero. It is powered with solar or USB. You can attach them to nearly everything and everywhere. Awesome product.

    Camp Toilet

It has become a massive problem here in Europe. The nice spots are covered in poop. Many people are not digging holes or using their solutions. Even a dog bag for a bin would be a good idea. There are many reasonable solutions on the market, making it possible to have a nice shit without leaving...

The Quest for the Best Knife.

Here in Europe, especially in Scandinavia, most of the people own a Mora Knife. It is super handy, good steel and affordable. The Mora comes in different versions, but the simple Companion is the best one. I use multiple ones. One is attached to my chest bag one is in the car.

Regular checks of places in the rig that are not easily visible or reachable

A critical point you mention here. It's part of being responsible. Not only for your own sake but as well for the safety of others. It is always a good idea to have a routine. Try to find a regular period to check your rig, including all the gear you are running. Thanks for the thoughts, Bjoern

Awning length on a short bed

I used to run a 6,8’ RTT with an 8,2’ Batwing. Try to keep the front mount as far in the front as possible. That should work fine. I never had issues with it.

Sadly no lift at all. Two reasons: 1st unfortunately my XC70 runs the active FOUR-C suspension which makes impossible to add a lift without producing a warning sign (there are some ideas to cut out the sensor and cable tie it to the lift shocks and that leads me to the 2nd reason: the German...

There is quite a large community on XC70 in America. Way more options than here in Germany.

Dog | big fan of the bumpy road?

I was wondering do you think your dog loves the bumpy travel off-road. I have the feeling that our golden Retriever enjoys the camp hang around but isn’t the biggest fan of the driving itself. What are your thoughts?
