You don't need a trail rig as the trails are fairly tame. You might want to bring a chainsaw as there may be trees down in some areas. I'm bringing mine.
I guess I never answered your question! The Ouray "entrance" looked like it was very crowded and busy. Plus from what I've seen a little rough in some places, not good when you have novice wheelers in the group.
I was just there last week and did the Loop starting in Silverton. We started late so by the time we finished Engineer it was getting dark and raining. After eating in Lake City we drove towards the start of Cinnamon and found a place to camp for the night. Highly recommended!
Go with the slip yoke eliminator. It gives you a better driveshaft angle and eliminates the issue of a broken driveshaft causing the slip yoke to come out and drain all the juices out of your transfer case :disrelieved:
Both tents are great, however I would recommend the 23Zero. The build quality and materials seem to be better, plus it comes with lights and shoe bags. You can also get the tent in either driver or passenger side opening configurations. The main reason I did all this to start was so I could use...
