I run the SAFU brand light bars off of Amazon. I have had great luck with them. I literally run my light bar daily on my commute to work through the back country roads. I have had limbs and all manner of things hit the one on my daily driver and I have smashed the ones on my crawler in to rocks...
Got the end fitting machined for my camp light pole. Basically I drilled the rivets out on the acme threaded end fitting that came on the pole and removed it. Then I took a 2" long chunk of 1.5" dia aluminum round stock and turned it down to a press fit in the stainless tubing the pole is made...
I also picked up a new rotomolded cooler from the marine supply store last time I was at the coast. It is a non branded cooler and the price was unbeatable. The quality on this thing is as good as my Yeti 65 as far as I can tell. It does not have the rope handles like the Yeti on each end but I...
Not much of an update but an update nun the less. Got the fab work done on my spring hangers. Saving the fine finish work for when I get them welded on.
You can certainly contact me if you need to. I have made two separate trips to this part of the world in the past but they were both several years back. Jeff is probably more up to date on the current travel conditions through that area than I am.
Really not trying to hi-jack your thread here. I highly recommend PAC tool mounts. I was introduced to them through work and they are tough as nails. We mount them on all of our tracked equipment to hold a sharp shooter to clean the tracks with. They get the crap beat out of them in the woods...
My rig is a 4 door truck with a full length bed rack and roof rack. I personally have plenty of real estate to play with. Nice to be able to surf fish and start them freezing right after you gut them.
Whynter offers several sizes other than the 85qt...
Not the plastic that scares me off... the fact that I can get an 85qt Whynter for basically half the price of the ARB is what scares me off.
Twice the fridge for around half the price. I'm good with that.
I run aluminum on my overland rig and steel on my crawler.
I run the steel on the crawler because they are cheaper to replace and you can beat them back into shape if bent on the trail. I modify the bead seats on them to hold a bead better at the extreme low pressures I run (2-6 psi).
I like...
I'm all about some pizza cutter 255s. Wish Q78 tires were still more readily available 35x9.00 was a sweet tire for Texas conditions. About the only place you can get them now is at a Farmers Co-Op now.
Yeah the water weight has become a norm for camping for us. We spend 7-12 days 60+ miles down Padre Island 2-3 times a year. It's along drive out at 25 mph to get more fresh water. I am actually dropping my capacity for the trailer build. I won't always fill the tank to capacity. I have always...
