Been a few sense I've updated here. I have been really busy between work and my side jobs. We also just got back from a 25 day trip to the Philippines visiting family and doing some Toyota research when I could get away. Any way I clipped a coyote on the way home from the Houston airport when we...
I have 3 generations of cast iron cook wear that I have inherited. My favorite ones are my great grandfather's 14" cast skillet and his 16" Dutch oven. Both many years old and still going strong. Both of them were used to cook for the cedar choppers of the Texas hill county during the depression.
Well I'm out of the US for a few weeks but I did have some time to mess with the cad files on our flight to the Philippines. I have a fair amount of work to do while I am here so Sorry for no more updates than this. Our house here needs some TLC, my Nissan Patrol y60 needs some repairs done.The...
Establish a puddle that breaks down both pieces of metal being welded. Then whip out of that puddle along the weld seam. Then come back into your weld puddle. If that makes more sense.
Sounds like you may have your wire speed setting a little high. If you can feel the wire pushing back against...
When you are running non shielded flux core it is often better to treat it like a 6010 or 6011 welding rod. You should step your weld some refer to it as whip and pause. There are some good videos on YouTube showing the stepping technique. It really improves your penetration in the weld bed and...

Find some of this if you are going to continue to use the flux core. Helps on clean up a lot.
You can flat black the hood. We flat black every thing in front of the operator cab on all of our Cat equipment at work for eye relief while operating at night. If it will knock the glare down off of Nordic led lights it will take most the glare off of anything in the automotive market has to...
On my first FJ I ran both a cold air and then switched to a snorkel.
The K&N cold air I ran gave a little better fuel mileage but turned the check engine light on pretty regularly from contamination on the MAF sensor.
The snorkel actually gave the truck some true cold air verified by data...
Be sure you wear a good dust mask when you are dealing with anything military. Grinding and welding over CARC paint is not good for your health. I typically have it sand blasted off before I'll mess with it. You can't be to cautious.
Let me know if you need any pointers or tips on welding/fab work. I have been doing both for 20+ years. Always willing to help someone who wants to learn.
Looking good brother.
What winch did you go with?
Need to borrow your stock aluminum crash bar for some measurements so I don't have to pull mine off...
Just now saw this even though we talked about it on TW and exchanged numbers.
Truck is looking good you gotta bring that thing by and let me take a gander at it.
