What I've noticed with the on demand heaters is there's really only two diffrent designs. Internally it seems their the same. Mine is about 8 years old. I have to pull the batteries when I store it because there's no on/off switch. Off is literally pulling the batteries by design. I'm waiting...
My small trailer, empty weighs about 600 pounds and only has around 20 pounds of tongue weight. Its not bad to lift the front and muscle it around but, its so much easier to just push it with the single wheel up front. When I got it, it had a flat jack on front. That got replaced pretty quick...
How did you notice it?
Axle seal, alignment or just looking down the side of the vehicle?
How did you bend it and get positive camber?
That's almost a sideways stuff the tire thing.
I've seen a number of bent axles from offroad but this is only the second pos camber one I've seen.
Heh
I'm not even going to give you crap about that. If I did I would so be a hypocrite. I just wish I had pictures of all my trail repairs. I could probably write a book. They do make for good stories though.
Welcome to the world of off road. Most things now have as much as 50% less life span. You had a cool adventure and something else to talk about.
FYI, I've seen people drive forever with a torn CV on the street. Not as much dirt as off road though. Normally the first clue is a mess with no...
Its not a baja thing but a math thing. At least at this point if it works, great and if it doesn't at least you know what you need to do.
On my end, I've been told you cant build certain things, then I learned how it works and built them anyway.
I run my cooler in the rear to balance out my front. If you have your camber/toe set properly, you don't need much tongue weight, the trailer will pull straight. When I'm off road I run my tongue weight at zero. I move my tool bags to the extreme rear. Anything on the tongue levers the rear...
On the street, some of them will blind people behind you. I run into that on the trail sometimes. I come up behind someone and and their bright amber light blinds me.
Sikaflex 221
Sikaflex 291
I've used both. the 291 has stronger bonding but the 221 worked well also. Both come in white, black and clear and you can paint them. I chose them because of their strength and flexibility.
Just because I don't trust anything, I also used screws. I was also bonding...
I know, right?
My first one I made out of angle iron and roller skate bearings. When I was done, I had a ton of hours into it. It works great but not worth how much work went into it.
My next two were heavy drawer slides that I made mounts for. Way easier and a little cheaper. Still if you...
When comparing, I believe the bottom line is, does it work for your application? If a 2.4L motor has more then enough power, why do you need an 8L. The same applies to suspension/axles. Its nice to have big axles but, do you actually "need" them or are they nice to have. Myself, I'm hard on my...
My 19 Tacoma front is pretty much all FJ Cruiser. If I was going to hard core wheel it, I would end up with RCV axles. The front diff should hold up but, low gears, locker, traction a tiny bit of case flex and boom.
When I read about people breaking diff's in anything, the first questions I ask...
This is due to the Japanese trying to grab share of the full size truck market. I always loved my minitrucks but they were designed for inner city and non American roads. As time went on, there was a better world marked for bigger. My Tacoma is a bit bigger then a 1/2 ton full size truck pre 96.
Sigh. Don't blame me for this answer but, you asked.
I'll just comment on the SUV's. The only Nissan experience I have is Pathfinder/Xterra and even that its limited to only a few.
I spent my life professionally working for American vehicle manufacture's but with the exception of a few Jeeps...
Would you believe my 19 Tacoma is actually bigger then my 96 FJ80. You wouldn't know until you put them side by side. Parts are getting scarce also. Fortunately, mine is completely rebuilt except for three more weatherstrips and paint.
