    Tires

The Duratrac is a great tire, traction is better than the KO2 (ran two nearly identical rigs, one with the KO2, one with Duratracs on the same trail) but I've seen more Duratracs with cut sidewalls. I don't think the carcass is as strong, but they have 2/32" more tread depth from the factory...

    Tires

I'm a big fan of the BFG All Terrain series. My KOs ran great and the KO2 is even better.

    How Many Members?

Sorry, it wasn't the post that is hate or tribalism; more of celebrating the lack of it here and how the community has grown. The tribalism and hate is outside of OB, I've seen a lot of stones thrown in our direction recently from various overland accounts on social media. I recently had one...

    How Many Members?

It doesn't matter how high the number is, that's the beauty of this site. The insight offered by number 0000 is no better or worse than the insight offered by 12341+ or any other user. Every rig, every trail, and every trip is unique in its own way. I just felt the need to say that. I've...

    How Many Members?

Maxterra told me about Overland Bound when it first started and was in the <500 range. I was really struggling at the time and that $40 was a week's worth of food, so I didn't pull the trigger until later.

    How Many Members?

I had not realized it was up that high until I met another forum member (entirely by chance) at Teakettle Junction a few weeks ago. He went to look at my member number and was surprised it was "so low". I didn't think 1028 was a low badge number at all, but apparently these days it is.

This is how we Overlanders celebrate St Patrick's Day here in Ireland!

I actually fit in the Jimny and would happily own one if I could get it in the US. It is what the Jeep Renegade should have been.

This is how we Overlanders celebrate St Patrick's Day here in Ireland!

Looks like a Suzuki Jimny. They are very popular outside the US - solid front and rear axle, coil suspension, proper 4wd, and body-on-frame construction. I got to see one at the Taipei auto show several years ago. It was tucked away in a back corner and pretty much ignored. I think the...

Get Over it!!! (Overland Humor :-)

I took my wife camping - if I put one more thing in here all my gear would have disappeared. Years of Tetris prepared me for this moment.

US National Parks with good overlanding opportunities?

That is taking Overlanding to a whole new level.

    PAY IT FORWARD >>>

That's pretty interesting, but I'm not sure I would be able to use it.

US National Parks with good overlanding opportunities?

I'm headed there tomorrow, the weather should be beautiful.

Welcome! Nice to see another Utah plate on the forum.

US National Parks with good overlanding opportunities?

Canyonlands National Park in Utah is divided into three "districts" by the confluence of the Green and Colorado rivers. Island In The Sky is the most developed and accessible; The Needles District is more remote and contains some off road trails (including the excellent Elephant Hill), but it...

    Mud flaps

The Nissan flaps are a rigid plastic that tends too crack (if you are lucky) or damage the front fender (if you aren't). I prefer to have mud flaps to protect my paint from chips and keep debris from flinging onto the rig behind me or my trailer. I've tried several times to make flexible mud...

How can we help you be better land use stewards?

We certainly have, a lot of that is due to the adversarial relationship between off road vehicles and conservationists. The rest is due to people going out and tearing up the place just because they can.

How can we help you be better land use stewards?

I wasn't even aware of ShareTrails before now. One thing that I try to do is advocate for a Tread Lightly approach. What gets areas closed off is abuse and destruction of the environment. I'd be all for teaming up with hikers, equestrians, and cyclists to provide vehicle support for repair...

You can't drop that and not tell the story of why you needed JB Weld!
