Is anyone out there running a large capacity LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) battery bank? By "large", I mean, larger than 400 Ah. Its a bonus if your bank is easily transportable/removable! I'm interested in your experiences, mounting and wiring solutions.
Sort of a long story, but the...
Ok... fingers tired... that brings the thread up to date as of 10/8. This old girl's facelift--make that..." butt lift, chin lift, tummy tuck, liposuction, boob augmentation, thigh lift, body contouring, Buccal enhancement (that's how I know the bumper/grill guard is female)--is nearing...
Front bumper. Another deceptively "simple" feature that went through several design iterations... currently sitting (anxiously) on the shelf, awaiting her bretheren and sisteren that have to go before her (please don't ask me how I know it's female).
... a view from the just in front of the bed, looking rearward at a feature most will never see... angled battery mount for 4x Optimas that sit nice and high. Yep, they'll sit with their bottom front edge just about even with the TOP of the frame rail. And the engineered-in bonus is I can sit...
ahhh.... the bed back where it belongs... Standard OTR big-truck tail lights, available from any truck stop. That's one of the design principles of this build--custom built, yeah, but with a LOT of off the shelf parts and accessibility to work from the top, bottom and sides.
Now that is almost too beautiful to be a bash plate... almost. Definitely needs some gouges and cuts on it...
Did I mention that originally oxidized bit of steel art from up further in the thread was beautiful? Marinate on this! And there's almost enough clearance to shove the mop bucket...
... another view of the noisy parts up front (and I do mean noisy... older technology Cummins' IS sonic art). BTW, the primary to perimeter frame tie is NOT as long as it appears in this shot due to wide angle distortion)
Curb side view of the noise maker. Somehow in all the moves, the oil...
Ahhh... much better. Feeling better about this old girl again. Oil burner back in place in front of slushbox and transfer case.
And remember that oxidized bit of art just above?... its now mounted in its proper place between the rocks and the "soft" bits of the driveline. You can juuuust...
WAIT!! What's this... ANOTHER frame? Well... sort of.. and before it was painted.
But what IS this obviously well-considered piece of art? WEll, you saw it earlier in the thread, but not in all its "sharp dressed" glory.
I know... I know... it looks teeny, but I SWEARZ it's a 14 bolt rear end!
The "almost made me cry" shot... remember this came AFTER the earlier "Hey, that looks like a real vehicle" pictures.
Top view of rear corner to show the beastly perimeter frame and triangulation. For those coming late to the thread, I'll say it again, to the tune of MJ's (the first, not the second's) "Billie Jean"... "Those welds are not my... welds..." But I'd definitely claim them. POR does hella work...
a nice look from the side shows why we're calling it a "double frame". Any point along the 2x4 outboard rub rail will support the entire vehicle weight, so no need to search for somewhere to put the high lift.
Old man steps to crawl to the top of the cage... a necessity as "a pirate looks...
Back down to the rolling frame (or frameS, if I'm being persnickety). The second one reminds me of my old cassette tapes in the 70s and 80s... "TDK... So real... "
Thanks for the kind words and Thumbs Up from everyone. Thought I'd do sort of a batch update.
Current status: everything is blown back apart, final welding on frame/subframe/cage is complete. Did a 3-part coating on all of those hard parts (rust preventive, undercoat, frame enamel) and now...
Yeah... most of a build thread anyway, enough to get a flavor.

It's updated through the initial build-up phase. Currently, she's all torn back down for plumbing and electrical wiring. Hopefully on the...
Unusual? Yeah, probably. Sort of an unholy mix resulting of menage a quatre between an 02 TJ, late 80s CUCV, a Fritos truck, and a one ton Dodge. Still in the final assembly stage, after being built, then torn back down to the frame for painting, plumbing and electricals. We call it...
That's AWESOME!!! Love the compact dev kit! On your website, on the Vehicle page, photos 10 and 13 resonate for me. #10 looks like urban decay and #13 makes me think about getting out on thr road. #1's lit interior also gets my brain asking questions... Lighting the interior of the car was...
I've owned my Runaway Navigator (I think they call it something different now) for about 2 years and it's been solid. I've had it in places that it was never designed to go and it's held up well. The Runaway team in Ocala is also the best bunch of people you'd ever want to meet. I love that...
