The acquisition of the 2A has spurred me to finish the M416. Or at least finishish. I didn't spend a lot of time on the frame. Basically knocking the lose stuff off then shooting with primer and CARC Green.
Ill finish the fenders tomorrow and have it assembled and out of the way leaving me with...
My Antenna CBs tend to be better able to withstand low branches. I've driven my Xj though some very low stuff and lost a Comet SBB-5 to the open coil. It yeeted the ariel so far I never found it.
Added another Jeep to the driveway. Previous owner has it listed as a 1950 CJ3A but those more knowledable on older CJs have told me it's probably a 46 or 47 2A with a 3A windshield on it. There are no frame serial number tags left so all I have is the tub serial number which are 10,000ish...
We do what we can but we only have so much space. We stayed at a lakeside site one time. Pretty nice spot other than the 10 tons of garbage around. We cleaned out the firepit and restacked the fire ring repositioned the log benches and hauled out 2 full size garbage bags of beer cans and...
I would avoid them. They kill your departure angle and on rougher roads the added leverage of having weigh on them tears them apart over time. I had some friends tag along to explore a national forest with me. After about 20 mins on just regular FS roads the carrier was sagging and coming...
First thing I would do is put the truck on the weigh scales "loaded for bear" and make sure you're not over your GVWR. Then go from there. With some weight info it'll be easier to select or have springs made that will work for your setup.
Shocks as someone else mentioned don't do anything to...
I have to strap the T4 on the roof unless I leave the kids behind at home lol. I can get it on the CJ if I get creative. I.E. strap it to the rollbar and windshield frame :tearsofjoy:
Was hearing a whistling noise at idle and just off idle for quite a while. Couldn't quite place it. Went to check my base timing and noticed I had base timing with and without the vacuum line connected. The vacuum advance canister had sprung a leak. Pulled the dist cap and checked with my hand...
I use a lower cost Magellan (Academy) dual burner propane stove combined with a cast iron griddle. Prior to that I was using a Coleman 424 (multifuel) stove. But it was kind of bulky and after a while I was never using the multifuel feature and was just using a propane adapter on it because it...
At least it was Bear Spray and not Self Defense OC spray. Never stand downwind and try to find something that isn't fogging. Streams and gels are much less likely to get blown back in your face when deployed. But I'm not even sure if they offer bear spray in anything but fogger type.
Pulled the valve covers and did the valve stem seals on my 76 CJ5 today, it consumes a fair amount of oil but never smokes, go figure. The previous owners were not very nice to this engine. Looks like they neglected oil changes and had the improper PCV valve in there which didn't help matters...
I'm a fan of scissor jacks. They get low and are easier to get under things and can go quite high. HF carries a 2.5 ton unit for less than 40 dollars I think. It goes from less than 5 inches to almost 2 feet.
Not sure when the break over is buy mine also has a USB-C input that can charge on it's own or augment the coax input. I forget how much of a boost it gives but you can charge at a total rate of 90 watts when combined with the high output USB-C charger and the standard wall charger.
Amazon is rife with adapter cables to convert whatever plug in you have for your non Jackery solar panel to the coax connector they use.
I've been VERY happy with my Jackery 300. I've experimented with using a 100watt pannel I had laying around the garage that I picked up for an onboard power...
Texas is almost toally lacking in anything resembling public vehicle accessible camp gounds. You'll find a few small National Forests in East Texas and a few small patches of BLM land in far west Texas.
If you're looking for dispersed camping I suggest either designing a route that bypasses...
I hated the gates in Southern California, the closer you got to the border the more closed gates you would encounter. You would ride/drive down a road hit a locked gate that you could loop around on more traveled roads and drive right up to on the other side. They said they did it to help...
ATs are typically what I run daily but I keep a spare set of MTs on base model steel wheels for trips I know I'll be off pavement for. Since I'm not driving on the MTs daily they will last me probably till they need to be changed due to age instead of wear.
I know keeping a whole extra set...
