Possibly. The breathers are mounted right on the diff covers on these axles. But there were no inner axle shaft seals either when I took it apart. It took me a whole day and 2 gallons of diesel to get all the grease/thick oil out of the diff, axle tubes and knuckles.
Completed clean up on the 2A's front axle. Waiting on parts now. While cleaning I found these nice F Script bolts on the front carrier. Oh I forgot I found the front diff full of grease. I've probably cleaned a a few pounds of grease out of this front axle so far. I just finished up...
Got the M416 hitched up to the XJ for it's VTR-68A inspection Thursday morning. Drained the trans and tcase for the CJ2A and found caramel in there lol. Pulled the top cover for the transmission and found some rust but not an excessive amount. Will be filling with appropriate fluid and doing...
Interior and bottom of the tub painted. Due to wind and rain over the next few days I don't think I'll get to finish painting the exterior until later this week or maybe the weekend.
Got the interior of the tub primed day before yesterday. Didnt make any progress yesterday as I used that time to reset my garage and do a garage purge so I could get a little more organized. Today I'm going to try to get the exterior of the tub primed and the interior painted.
Got the grille and windshield frame painted today on the CJ2A and made a little progress on getting the interior of the tub cleaned up but not finished. Hope to finish up the tub interior tomorrow and lay down primer. Oh and adjusted the clutch linkage on the CJ5.
I'm off all week this week and we've got dang near perfect weather so I've put the frame and mechanicals on hold and am pressing hard on getting the tub and other body parts knocked out and painted. The last of the panels to paint is currently primed, the grille and windshield frame and will be...
I've got their 300 and just ordered one of their "100w" panels, prior to that I was using one of my own 100 watt panels (larger heavier than theirs) with an adapter. I waited till sells popped up and purchased them, typically I charge the unit while moving between sites off of the 12v outlet of...
Got a fender painted on my one day off. Hope to get some more knocked out tomorrow but we're looking down the barrel of 4 days of rain so probably not.
Changed rear diff fluid in the XJ, rotated tires on the CJ5, ran the wiring for the lights on the M416 but haven't moutned or wired the lights yet. Got the hood for the 2A stripped, primed and painted and got the tub pulled off and frame rolled into the garage.
First panel of the project is...
I missed a few days of updates. The M416 is pretty much done. I just got the wiring harness in yesterday and will be doing that up today. Along with some HMMWV taillights.
I got the CJ2A started on it's way down. I have some folks from the local Jeep club coming to help lift the tub...
I managed to find a trail that hadn't been in use for some time it seems. I called it "spider alley". It took me forever to get though it because every 1/4 or 1/2 mile I'd have to stop and brush dozens of spiders off the Jeep. On the upside the trail had a few technical sections that were...
Took the Cj5 up to to Queen Wilehema state park for what's primarily a motorcycle event that benefits CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). I've been going for years but due to my large reduction in riding I decided to take the CJ on my longest trip in it so far totaling around 700 miles...
Loaded up the CJ5 this morning for a run to the Ouchitas for a CASA charity event, about to roll that direction now actually. It's a motorcycle event (Rich Mountain Rendezvous) but I've been going for years and since I've moved deeper in the Jeeps figured it was a good close (3.5 hour) run of...
